The Segway Ninebot ES2 has great road maneuverability thanks in large part to its solid tires that will also never have to be filled with air. Unfortunately, you’ll be struggling to climb even the smallest of hills with this scooter. So if you live in a hill-heavy city, or even just a hill-heavy neighbourhood, good luck. Why We Like It – Ninebot Segway ES2

The Ninebot Segway ES2 is a powerful scooter that features a 16 MPH top speed, comparable to the Ninebot Max, so you can scoot around the city or campus with ease. The front regenerative foot brake makes for powerful stopping and battery-restorative capabilities, and the 15 mile range means you should be able to get where you’re going and bank without too much trouble.

Performance

The Ninebot ES2 Electric Kick Scooter can reach a top speed of 26 km h, or 16 miles per hour. This is actually pretty good, and a very reasonable speed for scooters in its class and on par with scooters like the Xiaomi M365 Pro or the Glion Dolly Foldable Lightweight Adult Electric Scooter. Unfortunately, the scooter isn’t great at climbing hills. Even a hill of only 10% will cause the scooter to struggle and use a considerable amount of power.

Safety

The Segway Ninebot contains both a front regenerative brake and a rear foot brake. While both brakes are strong, using both brakes does require you place all your weight on one leg to activate the rear brake which is something that’s not natural to do in an emergency. Still, the solid tires the scooter a more lightweight and maneuverable feel while on the road. You can also try the Ninebot Segway Max for another example of a maneuverable road scooter.

Battery Life

Segway has reported that the Ninebot ES2 should be able to get up to 28 miles on its battery capacity. While under ideal conditions, and I mean real ideal conditions, this may be the case, the battery pack, even with its extra battery, was only able to offer somewhere around 15 miles of range, give or take. And while this may be good compared to other best electric scooters it’s still more than 10 miles lower than Segways estimate. Check out the Nanrobot D4+ for a scooter with an amazing 40 mile range.

Durability

The Ninebot Segway ES2 has respectable build quality on par, or perhaps better than, other scooters in its class. The materials used to build the scooter are of quality, and don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because they may not weigh a lot that makes them cheap. In reality, it adds to the portability of the bike by making it lightweight but still durable enough to make it resistant to a few bumps and bruises.

Value

The Ninebot Segway ES2 has both a high mounted LED Lights on the front of the scooter and a red tailgate light on the back of the scooter. And if you’re into it, the deck provides ‘swag lighting’ as well. The scooter also features cruise control, bluetooth capabilities, a mobile app, and pretty much all the technology-related features you would expect a modern-day product to have.

Ninebot Segway ES2 Wrap Up

It seems as though Segway opted for technology with its Ninebot ES2. The scooter features many technological additions you would expect for this day and age, but the best part is that they didn’t skimp on build quality when implementing these technologies. What they did skimp on is proper testing, it seems, on its range considering it routinely gets 10 miles less than the stated 28 miles of range.
