Neato has made impressive strides in upgrading the Neato Botvac series of robotic vacuum cleaners. The Neato Botvac 7 Connected works with all kinds of smart assistants including Google Home much like the iRobot Roomba. Keeping up with the biggest name in robot vacuums may earn Neato Robotics the distinction of best robot vacuum. Compare this with the iRobot Rooma i7robot vacuum to see which is really the best.

Why We Like It – Neato Botvac D7 Connected

The Neato Botvac D7 Connected, with its excellent navigation, plethora of app controls, and integration with all third-party smart home devices, proves it’s one of the best, if not the finest robotic vacuum cleaners on the market today. Anyone who has braved the $600 price tag will likely tell you the exact same thing. Pros
  • Alexa, Google, IFTTT support
  • Excellent in-app mapping
  • Impressive Battery Life
Cons
  • Small Dust Bin
  • Pricey
  • Noisy

Performance

Although most robot vacuums support Amazon Alexa, the Botvac D7 also supports Google Assistant and IFTTT recipes. The Neato Botvac D7 Connected also syncs easily with all your other smart home technologies including your Apple Watch! The vacuum handles different surfaces like wood, carpet, and tile without trouble and is able to dock on its own. The dustbin is small, though, so it may need to be changed when in the middle of cleaning. The Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S has a deceptively large 0.6-liter dust bin if you don’t feel like changing one too often.

Design

After downloading the Neato app you can access a new feature called My Floor Plan which lets your Botvac D7 Connected map your home after an initial diagnostic run. From here you can add no-go lines to tell the robot vacuum where not to clean. You may also add zone cleaning to segment your home and have the vacuum focus on one area at a time. Be aware that these features are only available through the app. The cleaning options screen lets you select House, Spot, or Manual cleaning and, further, house cleaning has Eco and Turbo Mode. It may be a bit much to take in, so the Ecovacs DEEBOT N79S is a good place to start with app-controlled vacuums if you want something simpler. To the bottom left of the Botvac D7 is your battery indicator and directly under that is the start button.

Value

One of the best things about the Botvac D7 Connected is its long battery life which clocks in at a whopping 130 minutes. At $600, though, it may send even the most curious consumer running for the hills. If you’re on a tight budget, the ILIFE V3s Pro is a nice, small, and excellent vacuum cleaner for the more budget-conscious consumer. The Botvac D7 also tends to be a little bit on the noisier side. Odd for such a high-end vacuum but something you’re going to have to take into consideration.

Neato Botvac D7 Connected Wrap Up

Despite its noisy nature and its small dustbin (which are both odd choices for such a high-end robotic vacuum), the Botvac D7 Connected still does a lot to justify its $600 price tag. Its in-app controls can’t be beaten and, despite using infrared navigation, which has a reputation of being not too reliable, its movement around home works like a dream. Never will you have to worry about it bumping into and damaging your wall!
