The LG Model LP1419IVSM Smart Dual Inverter Portable Air Conditioner is not only the best LG air conditioner but also one of the best portable air conditioner options available. Its unique dual inverter setup separates it from AC units of the same type. Portable AC units may not be the most energy-efficient in design, but these LG portable air conditioners are up to 40% more effective than non-inverter models. Read on to the end of this review to learn more about this unit and compare it to other impressive air conditioners available on the market today.

Why We Like It – LG LP1419IVSM

The LG LP1419IVSM is an LG air conditioner with a dual inverter compressor that allows it to use up to 40% less electricity than non-inverter portable air conditioners.

Pros
  • Dual Inverter Technology
  • 4 Different Cooling Fan Speeds
  • Portable
Cons
  • 79.99 lb. Weight Could Make It Hard For Some People To Move It
  • Fairly Expensive At Nearly $1,000

Performance

You can expect decent cooling performance from the LP1419IVSM. LG designed this 14,000 BTU air conditioning unit with enough power to efficiently cool rooms up to 500 sq. feet (for larger spaces consider the LG LW1816ER)! This is great, considering the Luma Comfort EC110S can only cool up to 250 sq. ft. Despite its impressive capabilities, noise pollution won’t be a problem as this device operates at 44-53 dB, depending on which speed the fan is running at. That’s pretty much similar to the LG LP1417WSRSM unit which runs at a maximum of 54 dB on the highest fan speed. You can control the LP1419IVSM from anywhere, thanks to smart control via the SmartThinQ app. The unit can also work with other smart systems in your home, such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Energy Efficiency

Although there isn’t an EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating shown on Amazon, we were able to find the rating for the LG LP1419IVSM (which is 10.14). This portable air conditioner can be up to 40% more energy-efficient than non-inverter models, thanks to DUAL Inverter Compressor (for an energy-efficient window unit, check out our LG LW1017ERSM review). Unfortunately, since LG didn’t post the Energy Guide online, we are unable to provide you with the estimated annual operating costs. They shouldn’t be too high though, as the LP1419IVSM is one of the most efficient portable ACs on the market. Another energy-efficient unit that’s worth looking into is the LG LT1037 HNR model which has an impressive EER rating.

Filtration

As is common with many other LG products, you won’t have to purchase a new air filter every time it gets dirty. The air filters on the LP1419IVSM are made of mesh, and can easily be cleaned by hand. The filters receive mixed reviews, with some people saying they need to be cleaned often, and others saying twice a year will be sufficient. This will depend on the environment you’re using it in, but thankfully the unit also has a “Clean Filter” light on the front to remind you if you forget.

Durability

Like many other air conditioners, this mode is mainly white, although it does have some light grey on the back as well. The exterior is made of solid plastic, which should hold up decently despite being prone to scratches (so keep it away from sharp obstacles). It comes with a 6″ air hose that goes out the window, but unfortunately, this model doesn’t have a drainage hose. However, there is a drain plug at the bottom of the unit for you to place a drainage tray under.

Value

Performance usually comes at a price, and unfortunately, this is true when it comes to the LG LP1419IVSM (if $976.58 is more than you want to spend on a portable air conditioner, a much cheaper option is the LG LP0818WNR!). That said, the unit receives generally good reviews, scoring an average of 4.1 out of 5-stars based on 1,890 reviews. LG offers a warranty on the device as well, which covers parts and labor for one year. Another bonus? Shipping is free!

LG LP1419IVSM Wrap Up

The LG LP1419IVSM is no doubt expensive, costing nearly $950, but it is also the best portable air conditioner on the market today. It is highly energy-efficient, fairly quiet (for a portable unit), and cools areas up to 500 sq. feet in size! Still, the inclusion of a drainage hose would have been nice.
