Performance
The LW1016ER LG AC Unit has a cooling power of 10,000 BTUs. Translated, this means the unit has a cooling area of about 400-450 sq ft. It’s not quite as powerful as the hOmelabs 14,000 BTU portable air conditioner. If you’d prefer an air conditioner with some variance in BTU power, consider the Keystone Air Conditioner. The LG Air Conditioner can also remove 2.7 Pints Per Hour of moisture from the air which will feel like a God-send on humid summer days.
Energy Efficiency
Unlike the LG LW8016ER 8,000 BTU, the LG Air Conditioner has a CEER Rating of 12.0, which isn’t the lowest we’ve seen but still not bad. But what you’re really wondering about is the Energy Star certification right? Don’t worry, it has one. You can also check out the Friedrich Wall Air Conditioner for another great Energy Star certified unit. Unfortunately, the LG website doesn’t state if the unit is UL Listed or not. It would be a nice additional certification to have. The LG LP0817WSR portable air conditioner is also very energy efficient, with a CEER rating of 12.0.
Filtration
It’s cumbersome to clean the filter on almost all in-wall air conditioners, and this Koldfront Air Conditioner is no different. Simply pull it out and clean it, and slide it back into place. Make sure you do this once a month and make sure you’re giving it a light wash instead of just vacuuming it to clear it of all the larger particles. But what sets LG apart from the rest is that it works well with True HEPA filters so even the tiniest of particles don’t stand a chance.
Durability
At 72 pounds, the LG Air Conditioner sits firmly on the medium position of the lightweight to the heavyweight line. If you are looking for a more lightweight model that can also cool a room size of 400-450 square feet, consider the KSTAT10-2C Keystone Air Conditioner. The LG’s noise level isn’t that bad for a window unit either. At 55dB it’s slightly lower than human conversation, which ranks at 60dB.
Value
Some conveniences the LG Air Conditioner offers is a remote control so you can control the unit from a distance. This will be great in the summer months. It also offers three fan speeds, an auto-cooling feature, and a 24-hour programmable timer. It works on your schedule so you’re not blowing air throughout the house and wasting energy while you’re at work.

There isn’t a whole lot to complain about when it comes to the LG Air Conditioner. Its biggest drawback is the lack of UL certification. But the True HEPA filter should help mitigate this little snag somewhat. It’s not exactly lightweight either, but it’s not something you can’t handle as long as you have a friend there to help you.
