If you’re on a budget for the best electric bike, or you’re a beginner, the best ebike for hills may very well be the Kepteen Mountain Bike. It foregoes long distance traveling and speed for a 21-speed Shimano gear system that offers excellent control over the inclines you tackle. And did we mention fast charging in 4 hours?

Why We Like It – Kepteen Mountain Bike

With its 21-speed Shimano gear system, the Kepteen Mountain Bike always has the right gear for your target incline. And with a fast-charging lithium-ion battery, it won’t be long before you’re climbing the next mountain.

Pros
  • Shimano 21-speed gear
  • Bright LED light & horn
  • Fast charging lithium battery
Cons
  • Maximum speed is only 18mph
  • Maximum 30 miles per charge

Durability & Build Quality

The Kepteen 26-inch 21-Speed Lithium Battery Aluminum Alloy Frame Electric Bike is made of aluminum alloy. Lightweight and durable, it does sacrifice strength. For example, its capacity is 264 lbs, a far cry from E-Cells Super Monarch Crown’s 400 lb weight limit. The wheels are thick and grippy, with a wheel design that opens up for a foldable integral wheel upgrade.

Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

The Kepteen 26-inch Electric Mountain Bikes don’t have speed on their side, not with a maximum speed of 18mph. And that’s with e bike pedal assist mode. What it does have is the electric motor battery combo and Shimano 21-speed transmission system. It gives you unprecedented control over inclines. Thrill-seekers will want the HalloMotor 5000W FC-1. On another note, if you have not heard of the 10-speed bike with the same X35 ebikemotion system as the Orbea, read the Lapierre esensium 300 review.

Range & Battery

If you use the electric motor battery combo, you’re only getting 15 miles on a single charge. But since this is a bike pedal assist bicycle, you can squeeze 30 miles, easily. It makes up for it by fast charging in under 4 hours. But for a bike with a 250W motor, read the Kemanner electric mountain bike review.

Safety Features

The Kepteen Mountain Bike isn’t packed with safety features, which is a shame. Its mechanical disc brakes are certainly better than linear pull, and perform better going down hills and weather. The LED light & horn is a nice tough to make riding at night easy. Lastly, the battery is removable, which prevents theft.

Value

The Kepteen 26-inch Electric Mountain Bike 21 Speed Lithium Battery Aluminum Alloy E Bike Bicycle fell short in some key locations, like speed and distance. That may be an issue for some, but it’s fair we point out that climbing hills is a cinch due to the 21-speed gear system. It’s also only $630, which is ideal for beginners. For the experienced, you’ll like the Haibike SDURO HardSeven 2.0.

Kepteen Mountain Bike Wrap Up

The Kepteen Mountain Bike isn’t brimming with power and features. It struggles to reach 30 miles on pedal assist mode, and rarely goes over 18mph. That doesn’t change the fact that it has fast charging, a bright LED light and horn for safety, and 21-speed gear system for control of nearby inclines. And even better: it’s only $630.
