For large homes, the best air purifier isn’t going to be a wimpy little device, but the best whole house air purifier. Our suggestion: a new edition to the IQAir family, the IQAir HealthPro Plus Air Purifier. It excels at being powerful and efficient, utilizing three stages of filtration to capture particles as small as 0.3 microns. Find out how we put this brand to the test with our IQAir purifier vs EJ air purifier.

Power & Speed

At maximum, the IQ Air HealthPro Large Room Air Purifier has a rated power of 215 watts, which allows it to reach 300 CFM. You can switch between 6-speed settings (on-board or with the remote control), with the lowest outputting 27 watts of power (40 CFM). It wrestles 450 square feet of air in just an hour, putting most smaller air purifiers to shame.

Efficiency

Due to how fast and powerful the IQAir Air Cleaners are, they can cover quite a bit. It would be overkill to put this in a child’s bedroom. Its 1125 square feet room coverage is better in a huge room. The Coway Airmega 400, however, beats it with 1560 square feet of coverage.

Versatility

There are multiple layers at work here. Particles first hit the pre-filter, the PreMax Filter, large ones specifically. The activated carbon filter then acts as a gas odor filtration system, picking up harmful chemicals in the air from cleaners and smoke; the gas odor filter also takes care of the smell. Formaldehyde doesn’t have a prayer against the pelletized chemisorption filter, which is attached to the odor filter to make one V5 cell filter. Lastly, any fine particles as small as 0.3 microns are stopped by the HyperHEPA filtration system. But if you wanted to target something specific, the Alen BreatheSmart Classic Large Room Air Purifier has several models built to capture certain particles over others.

Durability

Steel and MasterCraft seal technology is what gives the IQAir Air Purifier its durability. Its body is built from stainless steel, while 3D Ultra Seal technology is added to prevent any air from escaping, which would otherwise defeat the purpose of its HyperHEPA filters and whatnot.

Value

Considering everything this IQAir HealthPro Plus review covers—its HEPA air filtration system, air delivery, and coverage—it’s worth the price of admission. After all, is there a limit to what you’d pay for clean air quality? Just understand there will be filter replacement costs (filter life monitor keeps track). The Oransi Max HEPA Air Purifier is almost half the cost, but only covers half the square footage.

IQAir HealthPro Plus Air Purifier Wrap Up

For large rooms, it’s hard not to at least consider the IQAir HealthPro Plus Air Purifier. Its speed, power, and coverage are built to inhale small particles from large areas and keep them captured inside. You can see that from the way its triple-filtration system works. Sure, it can be a bit noisy at the highest level, but that’s a small price to pay for cleaner air.
