The Frigidaire Air Conditioning 18000 BTU Unit comes with a remote control and a programmable timer so you can run the unit on your schedule via the comfort of your sofa. It almost makes up for the lack of Energy Star Certification, but not quite. Still, we consider it a best through the wall air conditioner because of its power and convenience features. Read on to learn more about its features and compare it with other popular air conditioners.

Why We Like It – Frigidaire Air Conditioner

The Frigidaire Air Conditioner is an absolute beat of an AC unit that can fill a large room with cold air quickly and efficiently. In the summer, it can also remove an outstanding 5.5 Pints of moisture per hour from the air so you can enjoy your home in humid-less comfort. If you only need a unit to cool a small or medium-sized space, try the Frigidaire 12000 BTU air conditioner.

Pros
  • Can Blow Cold Air Efficiently Through Medium to Large-Sized Rooms
  • Remote Control
  • 24-Hour Programmable Timer
Cons
  • Not Energy Star Certified
  • Can’t Run on a Standard 115V Outlet

Performance

Frigidaire FFRH1822R2 Window AC Units boast an impressive 18000 BTUs. Translated into square feet, the unit can blow cool air through an 1170 sq ft room efficiently. If you don’t need that much power, you can always check out the Friedrich Wall Air Conditioner, or the Frigidaire FFRA0511R1 and Frigidaire FFRA0511R1E, both of which only hit 5,000 BTUs. The FFRH1822R2 model, however, removes an astounding 5.5 pints of moisture from the air per hour, which can really come in handy over the summer.

Energy Efficiency

Frigidaire FFRH1822R2 18000 BTU Window Air Conditioners do contain an Energy Saver mode, but aren’t as energy efficient as you might believe. This is because the unit doesn’t carry an Energy Star certification and thus will still cost you more in the long run. If you need to have a unit with energy star certification, consider the Keystone Air Conditioner.

Filtration

The Frigidaire FFRH1822R2 Central Air Window Unit contains a ‘clean filter’ alert which notifies you when the filter, well, needs cleaning so you won’t need to be constantly checking it yourself. The nesh filter is easy to clean, but still a little cumbersome. Considering that all in-wall fans are like this, though, we won’t deduct too many points.

Durability

The Frigidaire FFRH1822R2 Window-Mounted Unit is 118 pounds, but that’s to be expected considering its cooling power. Check the KSTAT10-2C Keystone Air Conditioner if you’d like something lighter, though. Although no exact dB level is given, customer reviews Frigidaire have spoken highly about how little the casement window Frigidaire makes, so that’s always a plus.

Value

Some conveniences included are a remote control so you won’t have to walk across the room to adjust fan speeds. The 24-Hour Programmable timer allows for you to program exactly what time you want your unit to be working so it won’t be blowing air when you’re away at work. It’s not a smart unit though, so there’s no wi fi. And for some odd reason, you need a special 230V outlet for the air conditioner to work as it can’t run on a standard 115V outlet.

Frigidaire Air Conditioner Wrap Up

I won’t sugar-coat this. The cons associated with the Frigidaire Air Conditioner are big ones. The lack of an Energy Star Certification and its inability to run on a standard 115V electrical outlet are things 90% of its competitors have. Thus, the moisture removal and immense room-cooling capabilities will have to be the unit’s main selling features.
