The new DJI Mavic 2 Pro is using a new 1-inch CMOS image sensor that’s four times more powerful than the original Pro DJI, which is incorporated into its 20MP Hasselblad camera. Thanks to Hasselblad’s Natural Colour Solution technology, images are coming out in far greater detail—especially in low-light situations, with an ISO range up to 12,800. That kind of image quality is what photographers shoot for. Furthermore, video quality gets equal treatment by outputting in 4K, with HDR. That’s far superior to the SNAPTAIN S5C.
When controlling the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, you get quite a bit of help, thanks to intelligent flight modes. This also includes obstacle avoidance. Altogether, it greatly helps reduce the amount of flight time by adding some automation to the process. Flight time is a consistent 31 minutes, unlike the spotty flight time of the Holy Stone HS700D. Design
Like other DJI drones (DJI Phantom 4 Pro, DJI Mavic Air, Mavic Mini), the Mavic 2 Pro shares the same design philosophy as its siblings: portability. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro can shrink its overall size by folding in its arms, unlike the tiny, but rigid Potensic T25. This same design philosophy even seeps into the remote controller. Two foldable arms are placed at the bottom of the controller, which is used to snap your phone along the bottom. Underneath those arms are detachable joysticks that can be removed and screwed into place. And with your phone so close, it’s even easier to share photos and videos on the DJI GO app.
Value
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is more than just a fancy drone. Its performance is so good, that it has no problem performing in a professional setting; in fact, it’s built for it. Because of that, we wholeheartedly believe the Mavic 2 Pro has excellent value. It’s expensive, sure, but the Mavic 2 Pro has a niche use. Still, the original Mavic Pro is nothing to sneeze at. For first-timers, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro isn’t for you. Not just because of its pricing, but because of its use. This is best left in the hands of a photographer. However, if you’re a photographer, what you get in return is essentially a professional flying camera.
