The DJI Inspire 2 seems like the perfect best professional drone at first glance. And in many ways it is. It can shoot video in 5.2K and has such an advanced obstacle-avoiding system you’ll wonder why they built it to be so heavy duty. But all of this comes at a price, and what a steep price that is. Its features make it a contender for highly-rated drones.

Why We Like It – DJI Inspire 2

The DJI Inspire 2 is an upgrade from the DJI Inspire 1 in every way. The top speed is even higher now thanks to the ability to remove the built-in speed lock, and the dual-battery system allows for a professional drone with more juice than your average drone normally gets.

Pros
  • Obstacle Avoidance System
  • Good Battery Life
  • Can Shoot in 5.2K
Cons
  • Expensive

Speed/Power

The DJI Inspire 2 comes with a pre-programmed top speed of 48 miles per hour. However, you can disable this feature and increase the top speed to 58 miles per hour if you’re confident in your piloting abilities. You can also check out a DJI Mavic Pro model, specifically the DJI Mavic 2 Pro 4K Drone, if speeds in the forties are enough. Intelligent Flight Modes, such as the Obstacle Avoidance System, also come standard with the Inspire 2.

Range

DJI are some of the best drones when it comes to battery life. Featuring a dual battery set-up for enhanced performance, the drone clocks in at around 25 minutes of flight time. And while this may not sound like much, 25 minutes is just a little bit higher than average when it comes to professional drones. But if you’re looking for battery time that completely blows averages out of the water, check out the Autel EVO Drone. Go through our DJI Mavic 2 Pro review for a drone that you can use in a professional setting.

Durability

The inspire 2 retains the same quad-copter layout as the Inspire 1 and continues using super-tough carbon-fiber materials for the arms which gives the drone impressive strength. The body is now composed of a magnesium composite too. A new feature is a forward-facing FPV camera mounted on a bar in front of the camera drone.

Camera Features

DJI’s tried and true Zenmuse camera has grown alongside the drones, and the Zenmuse X5S Camera is the latest iteration of that camera line built into the Inspire 2. With the ability to record in stunning 5.2K, aerial photography and filming are an absolute joy to behold. The Inspire 2 can record in Cinema DNG Raw, Apple Prores, and more! Check out the DJI Inspire 1 Pro Black Edition review, for a camera with 4K resolution.

Value

Make sure you install the DJI GO 4 App and not the DJI GO from the Inspire 1 series. But once in you’ll have access to a bunch of cool features, such as Spotlight Pro, which allows you to automatically track moving objects. The Inspire 2 is an expensive machine though. So expensive that DJI seems to be targeting industry professionals more than average consumers. Check out the DJI Phantom 3 Standard for something a little more affordable.

DJI Inspire 2 Wrap Up

To be frank, I have a hard time seeing how an average person could be able to afford a drone like this. Professionals I get. Their return on investment will be much greater. But do you or I really need this much firepower? Well, still, other than the price, I can’t find anything wrong with the drone. So if you have the money and want the best drone you can buy, go for it.
