When we say the Sharp LC-70UE30U 4K UHD TV has “good picture quality,” it’s going a step up from the average, bare minimum of some 4K TVs. It plays back in 4K, yes, but it also does a little more through Sharp Aquos. This is the TV’s version of what’s essentially a form of HDR. It isn’t true HDR, but Sharp Aquos will provide extra colors that the 4K resolution doesn’t offer. It’s a welcomed improvement for cinema, while its 120Hz refresh rate provides a smoother experience for gaming. That still doesn’t stand against the Sony XBR-A1E OLED. Design
The Sharp LC-70UE30U 4K UHD TV is a whopping 70-inches—but, in reality, it’s more like 69.5-inches. More importantly, the smart TV’s app interface is incredibly easy to use. Wielding the remote control to access Google Play, Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, Hulu, YouTube, and more, is intuitive—similar to the Samsung Q7F. Of course, you’ll need to connect to your home network. This can be done via Wi-Fi or Ethernet in the back. You’ll also find component composite video, if component video is your thing, along with x3 USB ports and x4 HDMI 2.0 ports.

Value
The Sharp LC-70UE30U 4K UHD TV is, quite frankly, a slightly above average 4K smart TV. It doesn’t do much to justify its $2000 price tag. Does it have a great app interface? Absolutely, perhaps the best we’ve seen. It’s simple, intuitive, and quick to access. And Sharp Aquos provides a nice boost to color performance. Unfortunately, there are dozens of newer models that offer better specs for lower prices, like the TCL 55R617 for just under $1250.

If we were still in 2015, we would’ve told you to jump on the Sharp LC-70UE30U 4K UHD TV. Having 4K UHD is 4K, and with enhanced colors a step behind HDR and 120Hz? It would’ve been a good budget 4K TV, but times have changed. Not even it’s great app interface can save it. If you can buy dirt cheap, use your best judgement.
