If you’re looking for a segway that’s both powerful and compact, one of the best segways that fits such a description is the Segway miniLite. It’s right there in the name! Not only is it sporting a lot of engine power, it has the tires, control, and build to handle it.

Performance
The Segway miniLite’s 10.5-inch pneumatic tires makes handling various terrain pretty easy such as bumpy roads, a few choice inclines, and a bit of rough terrain. In order to do that, it makes use of its 700 watts of engine power. All of that power channeled into the performance makes for a very smooth ride. You’ll get an easy top speed of 10 mph, though your weight can affect that.
To extend its features, use the Segway mobile app. You can adjust its maximum speed (you know, for kids), update its firmware, and even access anti-theft functions.
Design
The Segway miniLite is indeed compact, but in design rather than weight. For starters, it weighs 26 pounds, which is two pounds lighter than the Ninebot S and Segway miniPro, but 10 whole pounds lighter than the Segway Ninebot S-Plus. Without weird angles in your way, you get better handling of the knee control bar. For better control, consider the Aubestker Handlebar Kickstand Kit. The miniLite can handle up to 175 pounds. This isn’t a problem for most kids, but it might leave some parents in the dust. Do note that more weight added to the segway reduces its max speed.
Value
There’s no doubt that the Segway miniLite performs well. That much is true. It’s UL 2272 certified, will last quite a few miles, and is easy to store. However, its value is overshadowed by its cousin, the Segway Ninebot S. The Ninebot performs as well and better in some areas, but at a much better price. The downside is the Ninebot S is a little more bulkier, its steering bar doesn’t have a whole lot of adjustment options, and inclines above 15° can be a struggle.
By itself, the Segway miniLite has okay value, but compare it with the Ninebot S and you’ll be having second thoughts.
Segway miniLite Wrap Up
Giving the Segway miniLite Smart Transporter a ride around is smooth, the design is compact, and battery life lands a good 11 miles. It’s app is really great, too. However, it does feel a little cheap compared to its Segway brethren, not to mention other models perform as well or excel its performance at a better price. Still, its features make it a solid entry level segway.
