If you’re looking for a memory card that sits in the sweet spot between price and performance, the Evo Plus MicroSD is a brilliant choice. It’s an entry-level card sitting below SD cards such as the Samsung Pro Plus range, the Sandisk Extreme Pro, and Sandisk Extreme Plus ranges. However, it’s very durable, boasts quick transfer speeds, and made our best micro SD card list. For another storage option, take a look at our Maxwell AirStash review too.

Why We Like It – Samsung 128GB Micro SD

The Samsung EVO Plus MicroSD card represents a fantastic balance between performance and price. The 128 GB capacity is good enough for most everyday uses and the fast read speeds and write speeds make it ideal for use in a variety of devices.

Pros
  • Affordable price
  • Fast write speed
  • Extremely durable
Cons
  • Average memory capacity
  • Questionable long-term durability
  • Read speed a bit less than advertised

Performance

In terms of capacity, the Samsung Evo has a respectable 128 GB, which makes it compatible with most devices. It has a write speed of 90MB/s, a read speed of 100MB/s, and a sequential write speed of 90MB/s. It is ideal for full HD video recording thanks to its speed class rating of 10. These figures are well below memory cards in the Sandisk Extreme Pro Range. It can still compete with the Extreme Plus. The high capacity 256 GB Sandisk Ultra microSDXC uhs-i might be an excellent alternative if you need more space.

Design

The rugged design of the new Samsung EVO Plus is where it beats other microSD cards like the Sandisk Pro MicroSDXC. The Evo Plus MicroSD memory card is shockproof, X-ray proof, and temperature proof. This microSDXC card even has an IPX7 waterproof rating and IP54 drop test rating. The durable design and 10-year limited warranty are why the Samsung 128 GB memory card made it to number two on our best memory card review. It’s perfect for people who are into sports or have outdoor lifestyles.

Value

The Samsung 128 GB card has a decent capacity and fantastic durability. It also has good write performance and sequential read speeds. Additionally, it comes with an SD adapter to fit in most card readers. Despite being slower than some uhs-ii cards, it can still fulfill most uses like storing files and video recording. It’s worth considering and represents excellent value for money. For an even cheaper alternative, it might be worth checking out the Silicon Power 64 GB NAND card.

Samsung 128GB Micro SD Wrap Up

This MicroSD memory card gives people an affordable way to expand the storage capacity of their devices. In our memory card review Samsung’s EVO plus performed well due to its tough design and long warranty. The 128 GB capacity might be a bit small for some users. For others, it will be more than enough and well worth the price.
