Potentially being one of the best bluetooth headsets out there, the Plantronics Voyager Legend offers you an amazing audio quality paired with noise cancellation capabilities. No longer do you have to worry about missing an urgent call or having to reach for your phone for controls every time something comes up.The Plantronics Voyager provides you with a number of buttons with multiple functions as well as a mic with a boom arm design. Thus with excellent sound quality as well as voice quality through the mic, the Plantronics Voyager Legend is a great bluetooth headset worth checking out.

Why We Like It – Plantronics Voyager

The Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth Headset stands out to be one of the best headset options for business men and truck drivers alike. You get yourself a good amount of talk time paired with a good functionality as well as a pretty sleek and solid build which is also water resistant.

Pros
  • Long battery life
  • Good App support
  • Water resistant to a certain extent
Cons
  • Rubber build takes on fingerprints

Performance

Featuring Bluetooth 3.0 and a smart app interface, the Plantronics Voyager Legend allows you to have an amazing call time as you keep track of the headsets charge as well as location through the app. Although the headset doesn’t support bluetooth 4.2 like the Apple Airpods, you get yourself a better noise cancelling feature unlike both the Airpods and the ICOMTOFIT Bluetooth Headsets. This makes it possible for you to have an excellent call quality even when you’re walking through the streets or driving on the highway. And if you’re going out for a walk, you’ll need the 64oz ranger pro to stay hydrated. The Sennheiser Presence-UC review also highlights another great headset with active noise cancellation features.

Unlike the Apple Airpods, the Plantronics Voyager doesn’t come with a charging case already packed, and instead costs $20 or so extra. While this is a drawback, the Voyager Legend does come with a longer battery life of 7 hours talk time and almost 14 hours more extra time with the charging case. Check out the Plantronics Voyager 5200 review for a bluetooth speaker that comes with a charging case. Moreover, the Plantronics Voyager Legend comes with a number of buttons like the call button as well as a voice/mute button which also allows you to access the headsets voice commands. Apart from that you also get volume control, the power button and a LED indicator showing the headsets status.

Holding a smart sensor inside it, the Plantronics Voyager can also detect when you put the device into your ears as like the Apple Airpods. This makes for power saving as well as a better overall experience as the audio turns off when you take them out from your ears. As for the microphone, you get a boom arm designed microphone with three microphones at the front which gives you a much better voice quality than other headsets.

Finally, the headsets also come with a certain extent of water resistance making it safe from sweat as well as slight splashes of water just like the Fimitech headsets sweat resistance.

Design

Wrapping around your ears, the Plantronics Voyager comes with a plastic build covered with rubber to a certain extent and a boom arm microphone. While the microphone itself is pretty good, it does fall behind in terms of compactness and the rubber cover unfortunately picks up fingerprints. Further adding to that, the gel ear tip on the headset itself isn’t very comfortable for long hours making it an uncomfortable fit for most people. And while that can be covered with the extra pairs of foam eartips, which isn’t very comfortable either, the Plantronics Voyager doesn’t really have much of a flexibility when it comes switching it between ears. Options like the Airpods which have dual earpieces or the ICOMTOFIT bluetooth headset which can fit in either ear are better options if you need that.

Other than that, the build of the Plantronics Voyager is solid despite the plastic body while the microphone takes in your voice better because of the boom arm design unlike that of the Airpods or the Fimitech headsets. And one would say to please try to get used to the eartips giving it a certain amount of credibility when it comes to the design.

Value

Costing you around $83, the Plantronics Voyager are neither very budget friendly like the Fimitech headset nor very expensive like the Apple Airpods. And considering the fact that it offers a whole lot of what the Airpods offer as well as a good amount of app support, it is well worth its price as a bluetooth headset for those who need the functionality and are good with the single ear design.

Plantronics Voyager Wrap Up

While it doesn’t have the best design, nor the longest battery life, with a great sound quality with noise cancellation, a good number of buttons, good app support and device integration as well as a charging case which can be bought for a few extra bucks, the Plantronics Voyager Legend may earn its place as one of the best Bluetooth headsets. That too with a good balance between price and performance.
