Mobile routers are great for traveling purposes, but they are not always considered the Best Router option of the bunch. But among others, the Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 LTE Mobile Hotspot router is a pretty good option for travelers, as it basically comes with a battery inside. If you’re looking for the Best Travel Router, you should definitely have this Nighthawk M1 router on your shortlist.

Why We Like It – Netgear Nighthawk MR1100

Very few mobile routers come with a gigabit ethernet port. And the Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 is one of them. It provides pretty good performance, as it is indeed a dual band mobile router. The Netgear Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot router is pretty great overall.

Performance

Even though it just supports a 4G LTE SIM inside, the performance of it is superior compared to something like the GL.iNET GL-AR150. It is a dual band Wi Fi router, and it can carry more than ten connected devices without performance degradation.

Range

The range of this Netgear Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot router is actually pretty good (even better than the GL.iNet GL-E750). And even if you lose a couple of signal bars, you still get good performance. On top of that, using the mobile app, you can always disconnect a few simultaneously connected devices that are using up the total bandwidth. If you have several devices, you can check out the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 that allows you to connect up to 30 devices on a range of up to 1800 feet.

Durability

Compared to the GL.iNet GL-AR750S, it’s actually pretty well built. And the fact that it comes with a massive removable battery inside pretty much proves how good the Nighthawk M1 Wi Fi router really is. However, it’s mainly a Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot, and most mobile hotspots nowadays come with these features already built-in.

Ease Of Use

The mobile app is pretty easy to use, and if you have an AT&T 4G LTE SIM, it’s extremely easy to set up. You can see all your data usage and data balance left on the onboard LCD display.

Value

This is where the MR1100 Nighthawk M1 stumbles a bit. Granted, it provides pretty good performance with good coverage. But asking 300 bucks for it is just a bit too much in our honest opinion. There are a lot of other mobile routers available in the market that perform pretty much just as well as this Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot (if not better) for lower prices.

Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 Wrap Up

Overall, the Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 dual band Wi Fi router is a pretty good option despite its high price tag. If you need a router that can drive multiple simultaneously connected devices, this is definitely the one to go for.
