The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 may not have the highest megapixel rating nor the best battery life we’ve seen, but these are things that kids will generally get over as they begin their journey into photography. Being incredibly lightweight the camera is easy to carry around, in your hand or pocket, and is easy to just point and shoot.

The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 Hybrid Instant Camera’s digital images aren’t going to necessarily wow anybody, but they should be more than enough in the hands of a newcomer. At 3.6MP it can still produce strong colors and crisp details. The smaller sensor also means the camera can focus. Clearly, on something 3.9 inches away. If you want better megapixel quality, though, a camera like the Fujifilm XP80 should suffice.
Ease of Use
The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 Hybrid Camera is designed to be used by both lefties and righties as it is symmetrical, and feels quite comfortable in the hand. Operation is straightforward, which is perfect for a kid, with a twisting silver ring around the lens to turn the camera on and off and rear controls which include exposure adjustment, play, and a print button. It doesn’t contain an optical viewfinder like the Instax Mini 11 or the Nikon D3500 Digital SLR Camera ,but that helps to keep the size down.
Battery Life
The Fujifilm Instax Wide Film Digital Camera is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery that’s good for about 160 shots. Considering most cameras in its class are good for about 255-260 shots, having a battery 100 shots less is something difficult to justify. When the battery is depleted, it can be charged in-camera via the micro-USB port.
Durability
The Fujifilm Instax Instant Film is a square format camera that measures 5.0”x4.7”x1.9” and weighs up to 16 ounces, or just one measly pound, when loaded with film. The camera may earn the distinction of being the lightest we’ve reviewed so far, which is nice, but it lacks the shockproof and waterproof capabilities of other cameras in its class, like the VTech Children’s Digital Camera.
Value
The Fujifilm Instax Film Digital Camera allows for instant prints which is fantastic if you crave immediate social interaction and are a fan of analog images. Or you can buy a cheap MicroSD Card and save your images to that for enjoyment later. Even a 4GB should allow you to save about 3,500 images. Unfortunately, it is an exercise in futility trying to print images from other cameras like the Instax Share SP-2 can do.

The Fujifilm Instax Square Film Digital Camera can be frustrating at first glance. A very short battery life is enough to drive anyone anyway. Myself included. But if you can get past the fact that this is not meant to be a professional camera, that newbies and kids don’t necessarily care about optical viewfinders or printing images from other cameras, then you will find a friend in the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10.
