Performance

One of the reasons that people buy Chromebooks is that they’re able to stay on for a decent amount of time without being connected to a power source. The Dell 3189 Chromebook features a battery life that’s long enough to keep it running for up to 10 hours, which is normally ideal for a full day’s use. Unfortunately, with only 4GB of RAM memory, the chromebook won’t be able to do a lot of multitasking, so it’s only best to have it handle one task at a time. Does it match up to the Google Pixelbook? Not in the least, but for a fraction of the price, you get a good laptop that’s capable of handling all your browsing needs, and one that also has a sturdy build quality.

Design

To be able to survive the rough handling that is expected from kids, the 3189 Chromebook features a sealed, spill-resistant keyboard, as well as rubberized edges to withstand all the knocking around that is likely to happen inside a school bag, locker or the classroom. It’s not as classy and stylish as the ASUS C302 Flip Chromebook, but it’s grey plastic aesthetic doesn’t look as bad either. It’s 11.6-inch Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen comes with a very high scratch resistance level, so it’s going to take a lot of effort to leave a mark on it. The inputs on the Dell 3189 are also just about alright, as it comes with 2 USB ports, 1 HDMI port and 1 USB card reader.

Value

The Dell Chromebook 3189 is powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor, and is available in options that offer 16, 32 or 64GB of storage. It also comes with an Intel HD Graphics GPU, which makes it capable of handling graphically intensive games like Asphalt 8. It’s Intel Celeron processor has just enough juice to handle just about 8 tabs open, and if you’re streaming from a service like Netflix over Wi Fi, then there’s pretty much nothing else you should have running in the background so that it doesn’t start slowing down. If you’re looking for more fire power though, the HP Chromebook X2 may be right up your alley.

Dell Chromebook 3189 Wrap Up

With a decent HD Graphics card and a capable processor, the Dell 3189 Chromebook is just what your kid needs for getting school work done, or for looking stuff up on the Internet when doing some research.
