For the best ultrabook, portability is key—but oftentimes that comes at a cost of durability, maybe even a short battery. The ASUS ExpertBook B9450 is none of those things. In fact, it has passed a variety of military-grade testing—MIL-STD 810G—has an incredibly long battery life, and performs with the business user in mind.

Why We Like It – Asus Expertbook B9450

The ASUS ExpertBook B9450 hits all the right marks a business laptop needs: long battery, incredibly durable, lightweight, and packing Windows 10 Pro for good measure.

Pros
  • Superb battery life
  • Military-grade build quality
  • Lightweight and portable
Cons
  • Lacks an Ethernet port

Performance

The ASUS Expertbook B9450 is more than capable of tackling several processes at once. Its 10th generation Intel Core i7-10510U has a base frequency of 1.8GHz, with a max of 4.9GHz. The ASUS Zenbook 14 is similar, but only maxes out at 4.6GHz—both of which are notably faster than the Intel Core i5. It has 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, packing more than twice the amount of storage space than the Lenovo Yoga 720.

When you’re done with work, it’s capable of playing a few games with its 128MB Intel UHD Graphics, but nothing special; it’s pretty strict on keeping to ASUS business laptops. The laptop is fitted with a surprising number of modern ports such as two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, an RJ45 via micro HDMI, a single USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, and an HDMI port. For a business user, it’s great when a presentation strikes, which the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 lacks.

Design

Featuring a magnesium lithium alloy chassis, the Asus ExpertBook B9450 is quite durable, more so than magnesium-aluminum alloy used on most laptops, while also being lighter. However, what impressed us the most was its military-grade build quality. It was put through various testing such as hinge test, port durability, panel pressure, shock test, drop test, vibration, humidity, temperature, even altitried; it went toe-to-toe with MIL-STD 810G testing as well. And yet, it is only 2.2 pounds.

Value

Once we considered the performance of the ASUS ExpertBook B9450FA within its recommended use, we knew it had excellent value. And to sweeten the deal, it comes bundled with Windows 10 Pro, which is recommended for business use. It’s carrying all the right tools to be perfect for business users such as fast processing speeds, solid storage space, and a number pad. Where is it, you might ask? The touchpad itself! Press the numeric keypad button and it’ll appear on your touchpad, which is notably clicky like a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon.

Asus Expertbook B9450 Wrap Up

The ASUS ExpertBook B9450 is not just a workhorse, it’s a workhorse suited with military-grade armor. For someone who travels a lot, this is the laptop for you. On top of that, it’s incredibly long battery life can last for a whole day, and it’s lightweight, so carrying it around is never an issue. Lacking an Ethernet port isn’t significant if you’re constantly on the move.
