If you wanted the third-best mini projector, the Anker Nebula Capsule, but were turned away by the pricing, then perhaps you’ll like what the Apeman NM4 Mini Portable Projector has to say. Comparing features, they’re near-identical—supports 1080p, rechargeable battery, easy to travel with. The biggest difference: the Apeman Portable Projector is significantly cheaper.

Why We Like It – APEMAN NM4 Mini Portable Projector Review

Thanks to its small size and bundled items, this projector is a solid alternative to the Anker Nebula Capsule, at a significant discount.

Pros
  • Good performance for size
  • Pocket-sized mini projector
  • Bundled with a mini tripod
Cons
  • So-so battery life

Performance

For such a tiny projector, we didn’t expect the Apeman M4 Mini Portable Projector to be much, but it certainly surprised us. It isn’t the greatest, however, it does well in the areas that matter most: image quality and contrast ratio. Its native resolution is 800×480, but can support up to 1080p. Contrast ratio is 1000 to 1, which is good for this price range. It can project a big screen size of up to 100-inches. Put that together and you genuinely enjoy HD movies and games. Sound quality isn’t the greatest, unfortunately. It sounds too tinny and flat, with very little personality. You may find a better option with our best Pico projector list.

Design

Not only does the Apeman Mini Video DLP Pocket Projector work well, it supports a variety of video ports such as HDMI port, micro USB port, and USB—though the USB is used as power output or, say, Firestick, but not for USB drives. It supports all of that within dimensions of 3.86 x 3.86 x 0.85 inches. You can control its features with the remote control bundled inside. Unlike the Dr. J Professional HI-04 1080p, this home cinema projector has a rechargeable battery. It’s just a shame that it isn’t very good. You’ll get 2 hours out of it, which is half of what the Anker Nebula Capsule provides. Could it be a great outdoor projector? That remains to be seen.

Value

The Apeman Projector Video DLP manages to find a comfortable sweet spot between performance, price, and features. It makes a few sacrifices, but overall makes it a solid choice for someone who wants what the Anker Nebula Capsule can offer, without spending so much money. As a home theater device? You could do better with the Vankyo Leisure 3 Mini Projector. And to sweeten the deal, both a mini tripod and mini HDMI cable are bundled inside.

APEMAN NM4 Mini Portable Projector Review Wrap Up

Aside from so-so battery life and speakers, the Apeman NM4 Mini Portable Projector still has a horse in this race. Its performance is decent compared to the best on our list, and even goes toe-to-toe with the Anker Nebula Capsule. It easily fits in your pocket, and comes bundled with both a mini tripod by an HDMI cable as well.
