This is one of the best gravel E bikes and with a wide range of high-end features, including a proprietary center-mounted motor that allows for a low center of gravity and SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes. Yamaha’s new speed sensor with zero power assist provided power from the first pedal stroke without any lag. It’s also cleanly integrated into the bike, improving the appearance and eliminating the all too common issue of lost function due to the wheel magnet getting knocked out of place. If this is your first bike, you would easily rate it as the best electric bike.

Why We Like It – Yamaha Wabash

Pros
  • Yamaha PW Series SE center-mounted motor
  • Maxxis Speed Terrane tires provide good mix of speed and traction
  • SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes
Cons
  • No twist throttle

Durability & Build Quality

With parts of this bike like the fork made of one piece aluminum rather than the structurally weaker method of forging and welding multiple tubes together like other electric bikes such as the Specialized Turbo Creo SL. On another note, you might want to experience a different bike, like the African inspired Boda Boda taxi. If you want to learn more about this option, open the Yuba boda boda review.

Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

Though the 500-watt motor is extremely powerful and suitable for both gravelly paths and steep inclines, it only engages via pedal assist, as there is no twist throttle here. Like the Giant Revolt E+ Pro it has a custom built center mounted motor, which offers a low center of gravity, and the inclusion of ultra-safe SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes. The Maxxis Speed Terrane tires are also of great benefit, as they offer a fantastic mix of flat-out speed and traction. The Yamaha Wabash electric gravel bike can traverse a single track with the simple and easy.

Range & Battery

The Wabash is a gravel bike that blends off road and on road bike elements to allow for the versatility to handle paved and unpaved roads.unlike other gravel bikes, even mountain bikes can’t perform quite as well on the street as the Wabash Gravel Bike can.

Safety features

The seat post is a simple pipe Alloy 2-bolt 35.0mm with an alloy Alloy 2-bolt 35.0mm clamp to hold the seat. The brakes are a series of SRAM APEX Hydraulic 160mm Center Lock Rotors that will bring the bike from the drive unit max speed of 20mph and able to stop in only the fraction of the time that the Cannondale Synapse NEO SE will take.

Value

The light aluminum body of the bike pairs well with the 3 year warranty as the Yamaha Wabash has a lower weight for higher speeds and riding the bike a little harder but that could cause the bike to break more quickly.

Yamaha Wabash Wrap Up

All in all the lack of a twist to the throttle shouldn’t be a deal breaker as it’s cheaper than most other bikes in its class and offers almost every other function of them with probably the only shortcoming being it’s speed as even some cargo bikes will hit speeds higher than it can.
