If you’re searching for the best microwaves fit for a dorm room, office, or small apartment, but don’t want to break the bank, the Toshiba EM925A5A-SS will be your hero. It’s not only compact in size, but that doesn’t stop it from performing its necessary duties when the time comes, cooking your food to optimal temperatures.

Why We Like It – Toshiba EM925A5A-SS Microwave Oven

The Toshiba EM925A5A-SS Microwave Oven combines solid performance and a compact design, while keeping its price low and affordable to most—ideal for college students and small apartments.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Great value for its performance
  • Compact size
Cons
  • Doesn’t always heat evenly

Performance

The Toshiba EM925A5A-SS does a solid job cooking just about any meal you throw at it. While it isn’t the fastest at cooking, it isn’t slow either. For what you pay, you’re getting an excellent deal for its performance. Part of its performance comes from its inverter technology, InverTech. However, you start having problems when heating strangely shaped food, but that’s typical of most microwave ovens. In this case, thicker areas tend to be a few degrees colder. This is partly to do with it maxing out at 900W, which is 350W fewer than the Panasonic NN-SN966S.

Design

The Toshiba EM925A5A-SS Microwave is rather compact in design. It’ll fit nicely in a small apartment or dorm room. If you’re placing one in your home, there’s a child safety lock so curious hands aren’t being too adventurous.

For a microwave, it has an appealing stainless steel finish, equipped with an interior LED light. Having a stainless steel exterior is pretty common, but the steel looks nice for being brushed. Unlike other microwave ovens, it’s easy to use, providing all the necessary settings at hand, along with a large digital display. You won’t find an unnecessary Amazon Alexa button like you would with the AmazonBasics Microwave.

Value

To best gauge the value of the Toshiba EM925A5A-SS Microwave Oven is to compare it to its cousin, the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS Stainless Steel Microwave. They’re the same in almost every regard except power levels and pricing. The EM131A5C-BS caps at 1100W, while the EM925A5A-SS caps at 900W. For a 200W difference, you’ll pay $40 more. That isn’t cost efficient. You can’t argue with this countertop microwave’s pricing. Even the GE JNM3163RJSS at 1000W is nearly three times the cost for a 100W difference.

Toshiba EM925A5A-SS Microwave Oven Wrap Up

For what it’s worth, the Toshiba Microwave EM925A5A-SS is a solid workhorse for regular use. It will cook food pretty quickly and evenly, for the most part. Occasionally you’ll have a meal that didn’t have even cooking, which a little extra time in the microwave will fix. Still, it’s easy to use, and its compact size makes it ideal for small spaces.
