Table of Contents

To determine the Best Samsung Microwaves, we focused on these key features: wattage, size and style, heating method, and controls. After determining the right size for your home, and whether you want a countertop, built-in, or over-the-range model, you’ll need to focus on wattage. Wattage will determine how powerful your microwave will be and how quickly it can heat food. But you’ll also want to consider the controls, and if they’re compatible with how you plan on using a microwave. Likewise, the heating method will also impact how easily you can use a microwave for more than simply reheating leftovers or a cup of coffee.

After checking with hundreds of reviews and creating a shortlist from a large selection of options that includes a range of key features and prices, we nominated the Samsung ME16K3000AS 1.6 cubic foot over-the-range microwave as our Top Pick and the Best Samsung Microwave oven. Keep reading to learn more about our top picks and selection criteria for the best microwaves for any need.

The nice thing about many countertop microwaves is that they can easily be modified to become built-in microwaves. The MS19M8000AS is a microwave from Samsung that can achieve this goal. The 1.9-cubic foot appliance is in our opinion one of the best smart microwaves from the brand. With the addition of a trim kit — which must be purchased separately —, this microwave can easily transition to a built-in. However, it does have a lower power rating at just 950 watts. This model measures 23.62 inches wide, 18.43 inches deep, and 13.28 inches tall.

Still, you’ll get plenty of other functionality that’s intuitive. This includes Samsung’s Sensor Cook and Eco Mode, two features designed to optimize your microwave. Over-the-range microwaves are a popular option which is why Samsung offers so many of them. The ME19R7041FS is a large over-the-range model that will look great in most settings thanks to the sleek stainless steel finish that’s accented by the tinted window and black control panel with an LCD keypad. And as is standard with over-the-range models, you’ll get built-in lighting and 400 CFM of vent power. However, the vent may be noisy when activated — a common complaint we found with Samsung’s over-the-range microwave category.

Other common features that you’ll see with most Samsung microwaves is the Sensor Cook automated control, Eco Mode, and a ceramic enamel interior that’s easy to clean. We did like that this model offers a fingerprint-resistant exterior as well as 10 power levels and plenty of cooking presets. The range microwave features a massive 2.1 cubic feet capacity which is the largest we’ve seen from Samsung. While it is only 1,000 watts — which is in the lower range for Samsung’s capabilities — we do like that you get a four-speed ventilation that runs on 400 CFM.

The range microwave comes with a variety of fairly standard features for the brand. This Samsung smart microwave includes Sensor Cooking technology, a ceramic enamel interior, Eco Mode, a fingerprint-resistant exterior, 10 power levels, and features child safety lock. • Low wattage at 950 watts

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

If you’re a fan of getting the biggest bang for your buck, this recommendation is going to be perfect. First, it’s the MG14H3020CM — a Samsung microwave built-in compatible model with 1.4 cubic feet of cook space. And then you also get the Cuisinart CPT-180P1 brushed stainless steel four-slice toaster. So, this is a great two-for-one buy for someone who’s trying to be economical but also needs to update their kitchen appliances.

The countertop microwave has one of the lower power ratings at 950 watts. However, you still get a sleek mirrored finish exterior that — with the purchase of a separate trim kit — can be upgraded to a built-in format. Aside from that, you’ll get a variety of cooking presets, Eco Mode, PowerGrill functionality, a ceramic enamel interior, and a triple distribution system to ensure evenly cooked food. This model also comes with a child lock for added safety. It’s a great option for anyone looking for the best built-in microwaves and who doesn’t want to skimp on quality.

How We Decided

Samsung is a trusted electronics brand but you still might struggle to differentiate the wide variety of microwave models that they make. When we created our guide, we prioritized the following key features — wattage, size and style, heating method, and controls.

Samsung is unique in that many of the microwaves we reviewed opted for other heating methods that, for the most part, aren’t inverter or convection. So, where possible, we tried to pinpoint the heating method. We found that the most common heating claim was a triple distribution heat system that promised to move the air efficiently to minimize and prevent cold or hot spots in the cooking.

For wattage, Samsung offers a fairly wide range. At the low end, we found microwaves with just 950 watts of power. But then you’ll see that our Top Pick and Best Quality were significantly stronger with numbers as high as 1,650 watts. Likewise, Samsung’s size range varied between 1.1 cubic feet to as large as 2.1 cubic feet of cooking space. And you’ll note that the majority of the models in our Samsung microwave guide are over-the-range options. While these are pricier, they do free up essential counter space. However, we also included countertop models, along with those that could be converted to built-in microwaves.

Finally, you’ll want to think about the controls and how intuitive they can be. While all of our Samsung microwave recommendations offered a touch keypad control panel, you’ll see that depending on the model, some offered far more robust cooking options. A common feature was the Sensor Cook that allows the microwave to intuitively adjust the temperature and cooking time to prevent over or under-cooking food. But some models came with additional grilling elements and one could even be used as an air fryer.

Other controls that are important as you shop may include child safety locks, the door mechanism and features specific to over-the-range models. A common issue we found with our review research with Samsung’s over-the-range microwaves was that the ventilation system could be noisy when activated. While having a fan is important, for someone who’s easily disturbed by loud noises, this could be a deal-breaker.

Best Samsung Microwaves Buyer’s Guide

The Most Important Factors to Consider

  1. Wattage
A microwave’s wattage rating is a reference to how much power it can generate. Higher wattages will usually mean that a microwave can cook faster. Wattages can range from 600 to 1200 watts of power. But you’ll want to focus on microwaves that are in the 900 to the 1200-watt range.
  2. Size and Style
Where do you plan on housing your microwave? Regardless of where you place it, you’ll need to consider the microwave’s dimensions as compared to where you want it to be. Also consider whether you want a countertop microwave, built-in, or over-the-range style (also known as an OTR microwave). In addition to the exterior dimensions, you’ll want to pay attention to the cubic feet for the microwave’s interior. This references the available cook space and what size dishes it can accommodate. Sizes can range from as little as 0.8 cubic feet to 2.2 cubic feet and larger. Likewise, consider the turntable diameter too. While countertop models are easy to install, built-ins and over-the-range models can be cumbersome to install.
  3. Heating Method
Heating methods are important as they can impact how efficient your microwave will be. Convection and inverter microwaves are considered the best because they’re the most effective at evenly moving air while also maintaining temperatures. However, both of these options tend to be more expensive. In contrast, cheaper models opt for intermittent pulsing to move air, but this can cause uneven temperature control.
  4. Controls
Do you want a microwave with more intuitive features like broiling, multiple defrost settings or a variety of auto-cook pre-programmed settings? Depending on how you plan on using your microwave, you’ll want to consider the control panel and the features offered.

Samsung Microwaves FAQs

Is Samsung a good microwave?

Samsung is an established electronics brand that’s known for making high-quality items that last. With that being said, yes, Samsung microwaves are good and should last as long as you take care of them.

How long should a Samsung microwave last?

A good microwave should last for up to 10 years. After 10 years, even a microwave that seems to be operating fine, may not be as energy-efficient, or lack innovations that newer models can offer.

When should a microwave be replaced?

The short answer is when your current microwave no longer works. But keep in mind that the type of microwave you have can also impact this decision. A countertop or built-in microwave can be easily replaced whereas an over-the-range microwave is going to take more work since it has to be installed. Still, if your microwave isn’t heating properly, has a burning smell or sparks during operation, or has a non-functioning keypad or a door that doesn’t close properly, it’s time to get a new one.

Is it worth getting a microwave repaired?

You’ll need to consider how much you spent on your microwave, and how much repairs will cost compared to just buying a new one. Most experts agree that microwave repairs can range from $70 to $100. A quality microwave is usually between $150 to $200. So, unless you’re confident that you won’t be able to find a replacement, it’s usually better to just upgrade to a new microwave instead of attempting to repair it.
