If you’re looking to haul more than two bikes, one of which we hope is the Best Electric Bike; you will need a Bike Rack for Electric Bikes that can do the job. We suggest looking into the Thule T2 Pro XT. By itself, it can take on two bikes—but with the help of an add-on, it can expand to four!

Why We Like It – Thule T2 Pro XT

The Thule T2 Pro XT Hitch Bike Rack has the uncanny ability to expand its bike capacity to four via an optional add-on. With an excellent carrying capacity and versatility, it’s a great option for group fun.

Durability & Build Quality

When you get right down to it, the Thule T2 Pro XT is one durable hitch rack. It’s made of primarily high-quality metal, which is a boon to its overall strength, allowing for a total load capacity of 120 lbs (60 lbs per bike). There’s a catch, though: it’s heavy. This is 51 lbs of metal, so installing and removing the hitch is going to be tough. The Hollywood Sport Rider, however, can handle 160 lbs. The Thule EasyFold XT 2, on the other hand, will hold your license plate and is also has a  fully foldable design w/ carrying handle.

Performance

The Thule T2 Pro XT Hitch Mounted Rack isn’t in the business for securing a single bike to your favorite destination, but two bikes. It’s versatile in its ability to handle a wide range of bikes and not just mountain bikes; you can store carbon frames, downhill, e-bikes, and fat bikes without needing an adapter. This is because it fits wheels between 20 to 29-inches and 5-inch tires. Most importantly, an optional add-on expands the capacity to four, which the Kuat NV Base 2.0 lacks.

Range & Battery

It isn’t surprising to note that the Thule T2 Pro XT doesn’t have any charging capabilities. Most hitch racks don’t. What you should do is remove any batteries connected to your bikes, specifically e-bikes.

Safety Features

If you aren’t satisfied with securing only the frame to the hitch rack, you’ll be happy to hear the Thule T2 Pro XT also has safety measures for both wheels; a ratcheting mechanism for the front wheel and a strap on the rear wheel. The integrated cable locks the frame in place while also being a deterrent against thieves.

Value

So, everything’s great. Go out and get a Thule T2 Pro XT? Hold on there! Yes, everything about it is on point, aside from lacking compatibility with trailers, but Thule asks for a rather steep price. Here’s a suggestion: pick one up if you need to haul four bikes. The base and add-on together are a better bargain than a single Thule EasyFold XT 2.

Thule T2 Pro XT Wrap Up

You can justify buying a Thule T2 Pro XT, even if you’re sticking to hauling two bikes. It has outstanding safety features and the capacity to handle most bikes thrown at it. For the best bargain, however, you’ll want the add-on too. If you aren’t, there are more affordable options that are arguably just as good.
