The REI Co Op Kingdom 4 is a great tent for two people to four people. It has 69.4 square feet and dual doors for easy entry and exiting. The tent was designed for both first time campers, as well as avid hikers and campers. The Kingdom Tents is considered one of the best tents due to the easy set up and break down features along with hubbed tent poles and sleeves. This provides a sturdier structure overall.

Why We Like It – REI Kingdom 4 Review

The REI Kingdom Tent is roomy even if it’s sold as a 4 person tent. It has two doors, making it easy for everyone to enter and exit the tent, without having to climb over other people or their gear. The REI Co Op Kingdom 4 is ideal for three-season camping.

Performance

The REI Kingdom 4 camping tent is easy to set up and break down. The pole material is aluminum, rather than the traditional composite or fiberglass poles, making them more durable and less likely to break. It has sleeves so the poles stay in place and pole clips. The construction allows for a freestanding pitch with a lofty interior space. The tent has ample floor space at 100 x 100 inches is a perfect add-on to car camping or use in a campground as the tent itself weighs 18.5 pounds.

Design

The Kingdom 4 is a well-designed tent with many design elements extensively thought out. The aluminum poles are more durable than a fiberglass pole. The tent has multiple interior storage options, making finding equipment in the dark easier. As a car camping tent, the Kingdom 4 is made of durable polyester so ensure longevity. With two doors, the tent has four zipper sliders. It has bug-proof mesh paneling for viewing or ventilation purposes, as well as a waterproof polyester rain fly.

Value

While this tent is on the expensive side, it is well constructed for avid campers. Compared to the Nemo Equipment Losi Tent, which is one-third the weight, the Kingdom 4 is not ideal as a backpacking tent, since it weighs over 18 pounds. However, it is perfect for campground camping or car camping. A unique feature that is not typically found in lower-priced tents, is the dual door construction. The aluminum poles are a step up from the traditional fiberglass poles and add longevity value. The free shipping you get when you purchase this tent online is an added bonus. If you are looking for a less expensive option the Kelty TN2 Tent is half the price.

REI Kingdom 4 Review Wrap Up

The REI Kingdom 4 is a well-constructed tent with some nice attributes. While it is on the expensive side, if you plan on doing a lot of camping, it is worth the investment. The dual doors are a valuable asset on their own. While this tent is best suited for car camping, it can be used for hiking if you plan the weight distribution out among several people. While it is not as big as the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8, which is an eight-person tent, it still has a large floor square footage and you can easily fit air mattresses or just use a sleeping pad for extra comfort.
