Spending a pretty penny on an elaborate backpack stove for an occasional camper isn’t budget-friendly. You need something that’s lightweight, maybe 0.6 lbs, and one that comes with its own piezo ignition system. Of course the cost needs to be low but the performance needs to be good. The best backpacking stove that falls in those categories is the REEHUT Ultralight Backpacking Adjustable Mountaineering System. That might also be the best camping and hiking gear.

Why We Like It – REEHUT Ultralight Backpacking Adjustable Mountaineering System

Good performance and budget-friendly, this portable stove comes with its own piezo ignition system. It’s lightweight and simple to use, making it ideal for occasional campers.

Pros
  • 4-arm system reliably holds pots
  • Built-in piezo ignition system
  • Free shipping
Cons
  • Not all propane fuel canisters are compatible

Performance

The REEHUT Ultralight Backpacking Adjustable Mountaineering System isn’t the quickest at boiling water by any means, but it managed to check many of our boxes. Boiling a small pot takes anywhere from 4 to 7 minutes, a far cry from the Ohuhu Camping Stove. We could live with that simply because of its 4-arm system, which held a variety of pot sizes reliably, provided you can support it along the bottom.

However, it is limited in its fuel type, specifically 7/16 thread single Butane/Butane propane mix (EN 417), but it isn’t loyal to any brand; whereas the Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove used smelly unleaded fuel or Coleman fuel.

Design

For $13, we weren’t expecting much in the way of durability, but REEHUT surprised us. The Ultralight Backpacking Hiking Riding Mountaineering Camping Orange Portable Stove uses durable material made of aluminum alloy and stainless steel, which can withstand high temperatures and anti-corrosion. Getting the REEHUT Backpacking Camping Hiking Stove working was easy—no piezo ignition necessary unlike the MSR PocketRocket Stove. Built into the stove is its own piezo ignition system that’s very reliable. More importantly, you can control the fire using the flame control valve.

Value

The REEHUT Ultralight Portable Camping Stoves Backpacking Stove with Piezo Ignition Adjustable Valve Stainless Steel Material for Backpacking Hiking Riding Mountaineering Camping is the kind of companion you want when you’re planning a trip under the stars. Part of its success is its ability to be compatible with different brands of the same fuel—but not all—which means large canisters can be used if need be. Of course, we aren’t going to ignore its $13 price tag and free delivery, nor its $18 two-pack REEHUT Ultralight Camping Stoves.

REEHUT Ultralight Backpacking Adjustable Mountaineering System Wrap Up

The REEHUT Ultralight Backpacking Adjustable Mountaineering System is a solid, middle-of-the-road camping stove. Experienced campers will be left wanting. Its 4-arm system was great for opening up more cooking options and its piezo ignition system meant we didn’t have to buy our own. Just understand that its fuel is limited to 7/16 thread butane.
