Having a portable stove while camping has its downsides. Do you want to carry several pounds of fuel? Probably not. With the Ohuhu Camping Stove, food is cooked the old fashioned way: dry wood. At the same time, this stove can also shave down storage space with its collapsable body, making it one of the best, if not the best backpacking stove around.

Performance

Right off the bat, the Ohuhu Camping Stove managed to outplay other more expensive options on our list—but there’s a catch. Stoves like the Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove have a consistent flame because it uses gasoline; the Ohuhu Camp Stove uses wood. However, so long as you can find good, dry wood, you can keep a fire going consistent. What helps is how the wood is placed in its own compartment, which shields it from weather. Once it gets going, you can create a wide range of foods thanks to the inclusion of a grill grid. Want to grill chicken? You totally can!

Design

One of the best features the Ohuhu Wood Burning Camping Stoves have—aside from cooking delicious food—is ingrained in its design. Unlike the MSR PocketRocket Stove, the Ohuhu Stove is very small. That’s great, right? With this Stove Ohuhu made it even better by giving it a collapsible body. Its high quality stainless steel body can then be placed in a carry bag and stored in your backpack or hung from a clip. Expanded its dimensions are 5.3 x 6.1 x 5.3, but collapsed it shrinks to 5.3 x 3 x 5.3.

Value

What puts the Ohuhu Camping Solo Stove so high on our list is all the value that’s stuffed into it. It’s built to accommodate different forms of food, which is seen by its three stabilization arms for holding pots but also its grill grid for grilling food like chicken, burgers, or sausage. Does it need wood as a heating source? Yes, but you can swap it out for solidified alcohol if you know you won’t find dry wood. It’s an almost perfect device and only a fraction of what the Jetboil Flash Camping Stove Cooking System Carbon costs.

Ohuhu Camping Stove Review Wrap Up

Even with dry wood (or solid alcohol) as a fuel source, that didn’t stop us from loving the Ohuhu Camping Stove. Sure, it was nice setting a pot on it, but having the option to grill with a grid? It was an immediate win. And when we were ready to move on, its collapsible body was easy to store and carry.
