No need to plug it in—pour some Coleman fuel or unleaded fuel and you can get a good fire going and cook delicious food under the stars.

Why We Like It – Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove

Performance

When it comes to performing in the outdoors, we can’t think of a better companion than the Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove. Cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner was great; having a warm meal while you’re camping is hard to pass on. But what impressed us the most was how well the flame stuck around during various weather patterns. This is because wind baffles helped redirect weather so that the flame wasn’t snuffed out while cooking delicious food. But if you want to get a little more fancy, consider the Jetboil Flash Camping Stove Cooking System Carbon.

Design

What makes the Coleman Sportster ideal as a camp stove is how small the device is. Its dimensions are no bigger than 6.55 x 7.38 x 7.38 inches. It isn’t heavy either, only weight 2.35 lbs. Toss it into a backpack or hang it from a clip and you’ll never know it’s there. However, it should be noted that it’s strangely shaped. You can still store it in a backpack, but you’ll have to rearrange things to compensate. However, the Ohuhu Camping Stove is collapsable and better for storing.

Value

Another great feature of the Coleman Liquid Fuel Stove really sold us on its value: dual fuel technology. What that means is that the Coleman Sportster Backpacking Stove can use either Coleman liquid fuel or your run-of-the-mill unleaded gasoline. Just make sure it’s always unleaded gasoline. This also means you can save yourself some money by avoiding Coleman fuel, including its refillable fuel tank. And who doesn’t like saving money? But if you want to save more, check out the MSR PocketRocket Stove.

Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove Wrap Up

There’s no doubt about it: the Coleman Camping Sportster Backpacking Stove is—pardon the pun—packing everything you need for a few trips out in nature. It can be powered by unleaded gasoline, which is cheap, and can be refilled. And when cooking food, the flame is kept lit and safe from weather with wind baffles. It’s design is a bit strange, but still easy to store.
