If you’re aiming to free yourself of bags, the best central vacuum to do so with is arguably the Prolux Vacuum. When it comes to floor care—hard flooring or carpet—the dual-stage motor rips dirt and debris from the ground. In addition to a washable HEPA filter, preventing dust and whatnot from floating in your house any longer. Want more bagless vacuums? Check out this list of best vacuum cleaner reviews.

Why We Like It – Prolux Vacuum

With its dual-stage motor, the Prolux Vacuum has enough CFM—150, to be specific—to easily clean an area as large as 12,000-square feet.

Pros
  • Quick-release bin; no bag required
  • Washable HEPA filter
  • 150 CFM w/ dual-stage motor
Cons
  • Lacks hose and accessories

Power

Having a vacuum with this much power makes upright vacuums seem like toys by comparison. The Prolux central vacuum unit has 150CFM, which does wonders to both carpets and hard flooring, making it an ideal candidate for garage vacuum cleaners. And you always get the full brunt of the dual-stage motor, considering this isn’t battery-powered, but rather AC-powered.

Speed & Efficiency

Since the Prolux CV12000 Central Vacuum Power Unit has 150 CFM, it’s incredibly useful for homes that are up to 12000-square feet. The Allegro MU4500 Champion only handles 6000-square feet, and its CFM is rated for 124.1. Any vacuum with 120 CFM is ideal for a strong cleaning experience, as you’ll find in our review of the Ultra Clean SC200.

Keep in mind that not everyone needs a central vacuum. In that case, it’s a good idea to check out the upright vacuums, like the Oreck Magnesium and the Shark Navigator Freestyle upright stick cordless bagless vacuum for carpet, which are better suited for everyday households.

Capacity & Maintenance

The Prolux Commercial CV1200 greatly reduces its overall maintenance by featuring a washable HEPA filter, which is important for collecting dust that continues to float around. However, while the quick-release bin is amazing, and doesn’t require a bag to operate, you’ll have to clean it out once in a while to prevent build-up. If you have the best renters insurance, you’ll be covered in case something happens to your vacuum, like theft or natural disasters. It can handle 5 gallons of debris, equal capacity to the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner.

Durability

Made of steel with powder coat scratch-resistant paint, the Prolux Vacuum is incredibly durable. While it can be used as a bagless backpack vacuum, it should be noted it’s 22 lbs. It’s best to mount it to a nearby wall.

Value

The Prolux Vacuum is a pretty good deal, going for an easy $460. Considering its performance and design, that’s right where we’d expect it to be. However, it does not come with a hose or accessories of any kind. Thankfully, there’s accessory kits priced around $70, which come with just about every tool you need to clean hard flooring, carpets, and upholstery.

Prolux Vacuum Wrap Up

The Prolux Vacuum offers the ideal place to start for those who have large homes and need a central vacuum unit that can handle both hard flooring and carpets. However, you’ll have to purchase accessories to complete the set; thankfully, they’re relatively cheap and come armed to the teeth with various tools. It’s then you’ll get to experience its 150CFM, HEPA filter, and quick-release bin.
