Why We Like It – Allegro MU4500 Champion

When you want to go ham on floor care, the Allegro MU4500 Champion is a heavy-duty workhorse, bringing to the table a bevy of accessories, suction control settings, and 600 air watts.

Pros
  • 5-gallon collection capacity
  • Can control suction settings
  • Self-cleaning fiber filtration mechanism
Cons
  • Somewhat loud
  • Wall-mounting requires lag bolts

Power

The Allegro MU4500 Champion Upright Vacuum power varies based on what you’re dealing with. For example, it has 140.8-inch water lift suction power, all backed by 1855 watts of cleaning power through a 25-foot electric hose. It makes the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner look like a toy in comparison. It can be somewhat loud, usually when on the highest settings.

Speed & Efficiency

With its 124.1CFM airflow, the Allegro Central Vacuum Cleaner fits perfectly as a 6000-square feet central vacuum power unit, while the Prolux Vacuum can pull 150CFM. You can adjust the suction settings based on your needs. What we find most important is its bypass tangential discharge, which forces the area you vacuum to be released to the outside world, removing dust and dirt from your home.

Bin Capacity & Maintenance

Having a 5-pound capacity sounds about right for a 6000-square foot home central vacuum system power unit. It’s especially good when you consider dirt is forced out of your home, rather than getting tossed around, only to settle once again. Its self-cleaning fiber filtration mechanism also drastically reduces the time spent cleaning it. It’s a lot like the Honeywell 4B H803, which is much stronger than this one.

Durability

Rather than use plastic, you’ll find that the vacuum is of an all-metal construction, fitted with double ball bearings. This not only improves its durability, but also longevity; it’s lasting much longer than your typical vacuum would. While wall-mounting is possible, you’ll need a few lag bolts before it’s a reality.

Value

At first glance, spending $780 on this vacuum seems like a lot—and it is to some. But consider this: it’s a high-performance machine, capable of cleaning a 6000-square foot home in a timely manner. And, might I add, it doesn’t include bags. You purchase the vacuum, you get everything you need—no extra purchase on bags required. The Prolux CV12000 comes with fewer accessories.

Allegro MU4500 Champion Wrap Up

With how well the Allegro MU4500 Champion runs, all that suction and wattage power, we’ve looked past its extra step for wall-mounting. It performs so well it’ll be one of the first projects you take on, just to experience its suction settings, self-cleaning and 5-gallon debris capacity. All it’s missing is the ability to do laundry!
