Philo is a great option for those moving away from cable TV or who have never had it. Its live streaming capabilities and channel lineup make it a contender among the best streaming services available.

Why We Like It – Philo Reviews

There’s no live TV streaming service that’s as accessible as Philo TV is and with such great content. The channels Philo offers is plenty for most viewers and it has great on demand content as well.

Pros
  • Fabulous value for live TV
  • Unlimited DVR storage for up to 30 days
  • Create up to ten user profiles
Cons
  • Not many sports networks

Performance

TV streaming service Philo gives viewers access to cable channels, sports channels, and local channels all in one convenient package. It’s especially good for reality TV with access to MTV, VH-1, Vice, Discovery Channel, and many more. If you want the opposite of reality, you can change to Hallmark Channel or Lifetime. You won’t find those channels on Netflix streaming service.

You can conveniently record TV shows and other live TV to its cloud DVR so you won’t miss anything. Even better, DVR storage is unlimited so you don’t have to decide what to delete before you record again (note: recordings last for 30 days).

Design

Philo is designed to be a TV service that’s free from the television set. DVR storage is especially useful through the Philo mobile app for watching on the go. You can also conveniently watch Philo on Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku. The Philo TV app is well designed for mobile viewing.

It’s also designed for sharing. You can stream on up to three devices simultaneously and create up to ten unique user profiles. That means that no one can mess with your DVR or favorite shows.

Value

Other live TV streaming services like Philo include Sling TV, fuboTV, YouTube TV, and Hulu streaming service with the live TV add on (The Amazon Prime Video streaming service has some live sports as well). Philo offers the lowest price point for live TV streaming of them all, though, which makes it a great value. At $20 a month Philo beats pretty much all TV services when it comes to value. As with most streaming services, you can get a seven day free trial to try out Philo.

Philo Reviews Wrap Up

Philo is a fabulous low cost alternative to cable TV. There’s no comparison to Philo when it comes to price, so if you want access to the cable experience without spending over $50.00 a month (which is what Hulu streaming service is for live TV, as well as fuboTV), then Philo is your best bet. Some content, like sports (especially compared to ESPN streaming service), is limited, but otherwise this is a great value for live TV.
