The Optoma HD143X printer is an affordable alternative for a projector. If you’re not quite sold on this projector for your home, take a look at our Optoma HD142X review or our Optoma HZ39HDR review. Its cost is not too much for what it has to offer, so you’ll get a lot of value from it if you do decide to purchase it.

The Optoma HD143X is marketed as one for home entertainment, and its price point also reflects the same. Compare this projector with our Mitsubishi HC 7800D DLP projector review too if you’re not sure you’re making the right choice. The Optoma comes with a brightness of 3000 lumens, making it bright enough even for rooms that have a considerable amount of ambient light in them. The projector’s lamp life is also quite impressive at close to 15,000 hours, placing it in the list of the best projectors you can get.

Performance

The Optoma HD143X has impressive features that are sure to make you think about you taking it home. It has a dynamic contrast ratio of 23000:1 that enhances the dark areas of an image, though it is dwarfed by that of the Optoma HD29 Darbee which stands at 30000:1. It also features an HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p, and a short input lag of 32 milliseconds that keeps things snappy when you’re playing games. The projector delivers excellent image quality regardless of whether you’re viewing in 3D or 2D, and in regards to sound quality, the HD143X comes with a 10-watt mono speaker that can get reasonably loud. If the volume still doesn’t happen to be enough, you can always hook up your surround sound system.

Design

In terms of design, the home theater is not very different from the design of other home theater projectors. Unlike the colorful BenQ TK800 4K UHD projector, it only comes in black, and measures 4.2 by 12.5 by 9.7 inches. Setting it up is also fairly easy thanks to its manual focus & zoom, and its IR remote control which adds to its convenience of use. The projector also has a keystone correction of up to 40 degrees, though using this isn’t the best option as it might distort the image quality.

Value

The Optoma HD143X comes with various shooting modes depending on how well you want to preserve its lamp life. It clocks 12,000 hours in Dynamic mode, 10,000 hours in Eco mode, and 3,500 hours in bright mode. The projector also has great out-of-the-box picture quality, meaning you won’t need to spend a lot of time tweaking the settings. Its 3000 lumens of brightness also compares well to competitors such as the BenQ HT2150ST which boasts of only 2200 lumens, and for big-screen fans, the HD143X is capable of up to 215 to 290 inches measured diagonally. This is still quite big even for home entertainment.

Optoma HD143X Wrap Up

The Optoma HD143X is a great projector for home use thanks to its high contrast, low input lag, the lightweight of 5.5 pounds, and affordable price tag. We would recommend it to anyone who’s just looking to ramp up their home entertainment hub without necessarily leaving a hole in their wallet.
