Design

This is a well built camera, and you can feel it when you first hold it. The Coolpix P7700 features a magnesium alloy chassis with a rubberized grip for easier handling. Nikon worked on the ergonomics and improved accessibility to functions/buttons such as the shutter button, the mode dial, and the quick menu dial. It gets an optical viewfinder, and a vari-angle LCD display with touch support. It features a memory card slot and is truly one of the best compact cameras around. You could also check out the Panasonic Lumix FZ70 that has a slightly different design.

Value

The Nikon P770 compact camera will let you shoot a custom movie in full HD with stereo sound, and let you take high resolution photos with noise reduction. The images have great white balance and dynamic range, which makes them pleasing to look at. This camera is total value for money as it’s both affordable and feature packed. The optical zoom lens offers 7.1x zoom with good clarity, and supports RAW format output. If not this, then perhaps you’d like the Canon Powershot G16.

Nikon P7700 Wrap Up

This Nikon Coolpix P7700 review shows what this affordable compact camera can offer. The 1/1.7” 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor results in excellent image quality, and can also take bright images in low light. The 7.1x optical zoom from the NIKKOR ED glass lens, and the RAW support, make this a great buy. The only gripe with the camera is that the lens cap doesn’t stay well attached, but that’s not really a problem.
