The Nikon KeyMission 360 rivals many of the listings on our Best Action Camera buyer’s guide. Shoot 4K UHD video with, yes, a full 360 degree camera! It has the best image and video quality that only Nikon can provide. Connect it to wi fi and download the SnapBridge app on your smartphone, and you’ll be ready to share with the world. Also, find out how it compares to other best-selling digital cameras.

Why We Like It – Nikon KeyMission 360

Capture all of the action with the Nikon KeyMission 360. With breathtaking 360 degree footage, the KeyMission’s video quality rivals most other action cameras on the market. It records the scenery even you can’t see in the moment, including your positioning in the 360 degree world. Show off your adventures to friends and family, and they’ll feel like they’re actually there.

Pros
  • Nikon-quality photos and videos
  • High 23.9 mexapixel still images
  • Incredibly durable
Cons
  • Terrible smartphone app which has connection issues
  • Only an hour of battery on a full charge
  • Video stitching issues on final recording

Performance

The KeyMission is waterproof, shockproof, and freezeproof without needing to use an extra case. It shoots some of the best still images for an action camera, almost 24 megapixels of sharp photos. The main downside is that the battery life is only about an hour on a full charge, though you can get up to 2 hours if you play with the settings. The rechargeable battery is also removable, so you can bring extras and swap them out as needed. Another model with an external battery is the Nikon D5600 Digital SLR Camera.

Design

Unlike other action cameras that rely on internal storage, the Nikon KeyMission 360 accepts removable memory cards. It’s also compatible with all of Nikon’s other accessories, including the KeyMission utility arm that will help you find the perfect angle. The main issues with its design is that it’s heavier and bulkier than the average action cam; if you’re looking for a lighter cam, try the GoPro Hero 7 Black. Otherwise, Amazon reviews note that the KeyMission is incredibly durable, even when dropped on hard surfaces.

Value

The Nikon KeyMission 360 is one of the most expensive action cameras on the market (as opposed to the Dragon Touch 4K Action Camera, which is one of the cheapest), and Amazon reviews complain about subpar connectivity to the smartphone app. You need to purchase a special underwater lens separately, which eliminates the 360 capability. Extra lens protectors are also sold separately. While the video quality is stellar, the $500 price tag and compatibility issues drastically decreases the value of this action cam.

Nikon KeyMission 360 Wrap Up

The Nikon KeyMission 360 has some of the best video and image quality on the market, but it’s very expensive and has issues with connectivity and underwater filming. If you don’t mind fiddling with the smartphone app, you’ll definitely find the KeyMission useful, but if not, you might want to check out another action camera (like the AKASO EK7000 Pro).
