The DJI Osmo action camera is a great alternative to the GoPro Hero range thanks to its features. It’s one of the first action cameras to include two cameras, with the front display perfect for selfies. The DJI Osmo Action also has brilliant video quality and image quality, and multiple shooting modes including slow motion and HDR video.

Pros
  • Two cameras
  • Great image stabilization
  • Waterproof
Cons
  • No GPS
  • Image stabilization crops a bit too much
  • No HDMI port

Performance

We can’t review DJI Osmo Action’s performance without comparing it to the Hero 7 Black. They both have similar features and the main areas where the Osmo action camera lags behind is the lack of GPS and lower frame rates. Otherwise, it has impressive performance and can record in 4K at 60fps and at 1080p at 240 fps. The images can be taken in either RAW or JPEG format at 12 MP. There’s also stabilization technology called Rocksteady, and HDR mode to enhance the images. The Osmo action camera is tough and can go anywhere, just like the AKASO EK7000.

Design

When designing the Osmo Action DJI obviously took cues from their rivals. It comes with a metallic finish in a grey color. The standout feature is the dual cameras, which can make recording some footage much easier. The front is 1.4-inches with 330ppi and the rear is a 2.2-inch touchscreen with 300ppi. To protect against dirt and scratches, the large lens is protected by a screw-on lens protector. The camera is also waterproof to 11 meters, but you must remember to close the flaps. The Dragon Touch 4K Action Camera is another impressive action cam.

DJI Osmo Action Wrap Up

The DJI Osmo is the first offering from the company and they’ve hit it out of the park. The camera is rugged and durable and offers superb picture and video quality. The second screen is a gamechanger and has already influenced the competitors. It hasn’t got GPS or an HDMI port, but it still rates as a top-notch action camera.
