There’s something magical about a powerful surround system. It makes entertainment that much better when you can experience it from all angles. If you want power, the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System is here to answer the call. In the box you get dual subwoofers, a large soundbar, and two rear speakers, and superb sound that follows. It might be the best home theater systems around.

Why We Like It – Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System

With a 7-channel surround sound system, 5 speakers come together to bring you superb sound quality, emphasising bass and treble with Dolby Atmos on the wings to take advantage of.

Pros
  • Superb sound quality
  • Compatible with Dolby Atmos
  • Five connectivity options
Cons
  • Remote has a short range
  • Price doesn’t match performance

Performance

Sound bars aren’t enough to provide high end sound, you need an entire system. With the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System, that issue is addressed. By combining dual subwoofers, a large soundbar, and two rear speakers, getting to experience the superb sound quality was what dreams are made of. You’ve got Dolby Digital Atmos, DTS X, and 7.2.4 audio channels to change your life. The Polk Audio Magnifi Mini never stood a chance.

One small hiccup: the remote has a short range. It’s a bizarre corner to cut, but since you’ll be near it anyways, it was never a major issue. For a future-ready system that features incredible Dolby Atmos sound, click the Onkyo HT S5800 review.

Design

The Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System’s success comes from its soundbar system, combined with two subwoofers, and two rear speakers. However, the trick is to place your surround speakers in the right place, and put yourself in the center and the center channel facing you. Audio inputs are as follows: Bluetooth (wireless subwoofers), HDMI ARC, 3 HDMI, 1 Optical and 1 COAX. This means your Blu Ray player will be able to benefit from HDMI, optical, or COAX, whichever you prefer. One detail to note is the high quality build materials, making the JBL Bar 5.1 look like a cheap toy.

Value

Given how well the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Surround Sound System performs and outperforms others on our list, we aren’t going to knock these speakers off their pedestal. We will say this though: the price does not match its performance. They’re powerful, some of the most powerful speakers we’ve seen, but they’re due for a price drop. Should the theater system drop down to, say, $700-800, you won’t hear complaining from us. In fact, a better priced theater system is the Logitech Z906 5.1, with six speakers and THX certified.

Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System Wrap Up

We were thoroughly impressed by the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite Home Theater System. The not-so-impressive price might be a problem for some, however. Still, for the money you spend you’re getting superb sound quality, a system that’s compatible with Dolby Atmos, and a wide range of connectivity options like Bluetooth, HDMI Arc, Optical, and more.
