A fat bike that helps you climb mountains with ease while also being very affordable tends to be rare these days. And so, coming at a very affordable price, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike is one that offers an excellent performance for the price while also being open to upgrades if you ever want to upgrade it. It even comes with 7 different speeds each helping you to accelerate and climb much easily as you go up a mountain. Thus, with all that and a frame that is fairly durable, the Mongoose Dolomite might just be one of the best bikes you can get for the money.

Why We Like It – Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike

Fat Bikes are becoming ever the more popular as people look for ways to ride up and down mountains with greater ease. But as most of the prices range way up, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike comes at a very affordable price, providing you with almost everything you can want in a fat bike ranging from 26-Inch Wheels, 7 Speed Drivetrain and even a frame styled like a Cruiser for better performance as well as a more better look.

Pros
  • 7 Gears
  • Frame is durable
  • Very affordable
Cons
  • Pretty heavy even for a fat tire bike
  • Brakes are reported to be very noisy at times

Performance

Starting with the frame itself, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike offers a 17Inch steel alloy frame which itself is very durable thanks to a metal build. It is also styled like a Cruiser to give you the added balance and comfort needed whilst also adding to the look of the bike. Below that we have a crank which like most of the bikes in this price range, is not made of the best material which is an understandable compromise considering the price. The same can be said for the bottom bracket and the seat clamp but once again while you may need to maintain them every once in a while, these compromises are what make the Dolomite Mountain Bike so affordable.

Apart from that, the Mongoose Dolomite Fat Tire Bike comes with 26 Inch Wheels which are topped by 4Inch wide tires making it possible for you to climb the mountains with more than enough grip whilst also riding through mud, snow and ice. And with the added benefit of the 7 Speed Shimano grip it is made much more easier. They’re designed to be twist shifters and while there are many customer reviews, on sites which are a part of the amazon services llc associates program, saying that it led to accidental gear shift, you’ll rest assured knowing that the gears on it can actually be upgraded like most of the bike, including the dual-disc brakes which have been reported as being noisy. The brakes do perform well, but if the noise does show up, consider changing them.

Finally, when it comes to setting up the bike, it is fairly easy to do considering the fact that it comes partially assembled like the SixThreeZero Bike. As for greasing the bike, it needs to be done by you as there is no form of lubrication offered from the manufacturer.

Design

Weighing about 48Lbs, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike is much heavier than the Schwinn Loop Folding Bike and even the Tommaso Bike. But, this is taken for fat tire bikes making the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike more of a riding bike than something portable. If you’d love a lighter bike then our Pinnacle Arkose r2 review should come in handy.

The thick tires along with the steel frame also gives the Mongoose Dolomite fat Bike a pretty good look with the 3 Different colours it is available in. You get to choose from a Red, light blue and a navy blue colored frame, and although it is a little bit of a heavy bike, it will look pretty awesome.

Value

Priced at around $330 on amazon com, the Mongoose Dolomite Fat Tire Mountain Bike is one of the most affordable mountain bikes that you can get. It comes with some pretty decent fat tires, and while many of the components aren’t very durable unlike the frame, you can easily upgrade them if you want to, thus making the Mongoose Dolomite a pretty great starting mountain bike for many. You even get 7 different gears, a pretty good design all at a very good value.

Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike Wrap Up

While it isn’t the best quality bike you can get at this price, or the most lightweight, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike stands out as one of the most affordable mountain bikes you can get. It comes with some pretty knobby tires that make it possible for you to ride through mud, snow and even up an mountain, whilst also providing you with a design that is both upgradable and fairly durable. And so, if you’re someone who’s looking for a good mountain bike but can’t spend too much, the Mongoose Dolomite Mountain Bike may just be the one for you.
