The Logitech Z625 speaker system is simply an upgrade to the Z623, and to be an upgrade, the only thing that had to be added to it was an optical input. Everything else is pretty much the same, but with the addition of an optical input, the Z625 can then be hooked up to a TV or your console, making it much more efficient to use compared to its predecessor. The Z625 speaker set remains a 2.1 audio system that consists of 2 satellite speakers and 1 subwoofer, and their combined power output stands at an impressive 400 watts peak power. The system is also versatile in that it can connect up to 3 entertainment devices simultaneously, and since it comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, it also allows for private listening. There’s a lot more to know about the Z625 speaker system, so stick around to find out why we think it’s one of the best computer speakers you could get for your money.

Why We Like It – Logitech Z625

The Logitech Z625 speaker set is the perfect pick for an audiophile who wants to enjoy the fullness of sound that comes from its speakers, and has an audio system that’s got enough power to fill a room with booming music.

Pros
  • THX-certified
  • Optical input
  • 400W peak power
Cons
  • No Bluetooth connectivity

Performance

Unlike the Logitech Mobile P710E, the Logitech Z625 speaker system is THX certified, so you shouldn’t have the least amount of worry in regards to how good its sound quality is. The THX certification basically means the speaker set meets the highest standards of audio performance, and if you intend to be using it just for watching movies and playing video games, it’s got more than enough firepower to meet your needs. The set produces a cumulative 200 watts RMS once connected to your audio source, and with its deep bass subwoofer, you might have to retrain yourself from throwing a full-blown party once you start playing some music through it. If you’d like to opt for a slightly cheaper option without compromising too much on quality, try the Bose Companion 2 Series III multimedia speakers.

Design

As previously mentioned, the Logitech Z625 looks largely similar to the Z623, so there’s nothing new to it especially if you’re familiar with the predecessor. Although, for a uniquely shaped speakers system, you’ll want to check out our Edifier Prisma E3350BT 2.1 Bluetooth audio system review. As for the Z6925, all the volume, subwoofer, and power controls are located on the right speaker, and to its back, you’ll find the optical inputs, an AUX input, and a headphone output for whenever you want to plug in your headset – build-ins that make the right satellite speaker quite saturated with input options. The two satellite speakers are about 8-inches tall, and have an anti-slip base that’s got rubberized feet for better stability on your desktop. They’ll allow for better sound distribution than the TaoTronics TT-SK018 soundbar will, making them a better option if you’re looking to have a wider soundstage.

Value

Anyone thinking of getting the Logitech Z625 speaker set is someone that’s made up their mind about getting a good quality audio system, just like you’ll get with the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. The set does not disappoint, though we do wish that it allowed for Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio streaming. Aside from that, everything else is great, and with the ability to connect up to 3 devices simultaneously, you won’t have to worry about switching between audio sources every time you want to listen to your TV, gaming console, or computer. You won’t have this option with the AmazonBasics USB-powered PC computer speakers, so the Logitech speakers beat them out in this regard.
