The Humanscale Freedom Chair boasts an impressive amount of features that would make any of their competitors step up their game out of necessity. It’s unfortunate that not all parts are metal, but they probably had to do this to keep prices down. Check out our best office chair list to see how it stacks up!

And on top of all this it was designed by an award winning designer.

Performance

The Humanscale Freedom Chair offers great lower back support, solid lumbar support, and a gel seat that is adaptable and comfortable. If you’re looking for more quality lumbar support, we suggest the Herman Miller Embody Office Chair. The gel on the Humanscale Freedom Chair reacts to each individual, thus giving a personalized experience every time. The back height adjustment is there, which is pretty much standard in office chairs now, and the height adjustment for the arms is an impressive 2.5” to 6”. The seat height is adjustable at 16” to 21”, which is again an impressive range.

Design

The Humanscale Office Chair’s frame colour comes in graphite and aluminum, or polished aluminum with either graphite or titanium trim. The chair was designed by Niels Diffrient, winner of the 2002 National Design Award from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt and a believer in the “form follows function” philosophy. What other related products can tout that kind of feature in their task chairs? Still, if you’re looking for a task chair and this doesn’t impress you, why not try the Steelcase Gesture Chair?

Value

The Humanscale Office Chair offers a robust “contact us” page on their website with offices in the United States, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Oceania to email, call, but unfortunately no live chat. The Humanscale Desk Chair also includes free shipping, which is always a plus. On a final note, the weight capacity on the chair is 300 pounds. Not bad by any means, but not the highest we’ve seen either. It retails for $1,332.00, so try the Steelcase Leap Office Chair if you’re looking for something just slightly more budget friendly.

Humanscale Freedom Office Desk Wrap Up

The Humanscale Freedom Headrest Desk Chair and the Freedom Task Desk Chair are a great addition to any home office or work office. They’re expensive, to be sure, and the lack of full metal features may make people question that. But that’s the price you have to pay for having a chair designed by an award-winning designer.
