When it comes to high-end, short-throw projectors, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 gives no quarter in terms of image display; its high maximum brightness and ALR screen eliminate the problem of ambient light, and its high contrast ratio will guarantee deep blacks against extraordinarily bright and vivid colors. As one of the best projectors for daylight viewing, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 projector is a dreadnought built to impress and one of the best laser projectors out there.

Why We Like It – Epson Home Cinema LS100

The Epson Home Cinema LS100 stands well above other ultra-short-throw laser projectors, with incredible dynamic contrast and ultra-bright image display and image size that will impress your family and friends.

Pros
  • 2.5M:1 contrast ratio
  • 4,000 lumens max brightness
  • 3-Chip LCD technology
Cons
  • Somewhat bulky size
  • Loud-ish noise level
  • Only HDMI connections

Performance

The Epson Home Cinema LS100 delivers unparalleled performance, boasting a maximum color brightness of 4,000 lumens, a contrast ratio of 2,500,000:1, and 3-chip LCD technology, it guarantees satisfaction with no color wheels, white segments, or rainbow effects in a full HD native resolution on an ultra-bright 10’ display. Only a 4K option, such as the Optoma 4K projector or the Optoma UHZ65, could offer higher resolution; though this comes with the drawback of a lower maximum brightness and contrast. The VAVA 4K projector is also a strong alternative, though with fewer lumens than the previous two 4K projectors. With such a high level of performance, the system does generate a fair bit of noise at around 39dB normally. Combined with HDR compatibility and easy installation, along with great sound quality, the Acer H7850 projector is built to impress and is worth checking out

Design

Just like the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 requires suitable housing, in a 24.3lb black case of 17.2 x 19.4 x 6.8 inches. If you prioritize portability over performance, the Anker Nebula Capsule is an excellent projector on the other end of the spectrum. The laser light source provides a superior picture compared to a bulb light output, in addition to not requiring extra cooling. The ultra-short-throw laser projector requires just 10” of space from the wall. The Epson LS100 comes with three HDMI connections, but none else. Alternatively, the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1440 projector comes with multiple inputs.

Value

With the ability to out-perform most other projectors of its class, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 is a fair value. Its relatively minor faults are more than made up for by its superb ability to display large, high-quality images in a compact space. The extremely bright and vivid picture produced by the Epson LS100 makes it a must-have for anyone searching for the best. However, if you’re looking for a higher value with a lower price tag, the Optoma HD29Darbee is our favorite projector in terms of value.

Epson Home Cinema LS100 Wrap Up

If you are looking for a top-quality display, look no further. This projector is a heavy-duty home theater projector designed to deliver nothing short of the best bright cinema experience. While the sound it produces can interfere with the quieter moments of your viewing, and the system is a bit bulky with limited connectivity options, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 will bring exceptional performance to your living room.
