Furthermore, when it comes to the app integration, the Ecobee4, offers both Samsung SmartThings and Apple Homekit, and even comes with a built-in Alexa speaker, which allows you to use Alexa throughout your home without reaching for your phone or device. However, if you already have an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Google Assistant or Google Home system in your home, it isn’t that useful and without Amazon’s ESP feature, it will respond to your voice either way. Overall, it allows for a good amount of control for your smart home devices, but without any form of adjustment capability for the voice commands, you’ll have to learn them by heart. And if you do want to use the voice commands, make sure to place the Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat somewhere in the middle of the home, where you frequently pass through.

Finally, when it comes to setting up the Ecobee4, you’ll be happy to know that even though it comes with a C-Wire to operate, with the added PEK(Power Extender Kit) it can easily be set up without having to rewire your home’s HVAC system. And while you can set it up yourself through some instructions, if this is a first and new thermostat for your home, having a professional to help with the wiring may be more convenient. After that, you simply connect it to your WiFi and you have yourself a smartly controlled home.
Design
Having a touchscreen display unlike the Honeywell Home Thermostat, the Ecobee4 is a nice addition to your home decor. It has a flat glowing display with a black body and added with the blue light for indicating when listening to you, it does indeed add a bit of nice aesthetic. Apart from that, despite having the microphone and speakers on the back of the thermostat, the Ecobee4 performs nicely, without drawing much attention to it, but still giving off a nice look when noticed.
Value
Priced at about $250, the Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat is most definitely not the most affordable thermostat out there. But, offering you both performance and a design that is sleek but doesn’t stand out unlike the Emerson Sensi Touch, the Ecobee4 may earn its place among one of the best thermostats out there.
