Say magnetic and we just about jump with joy. Show us a magnetic product and we’ll immediately dispense cash to the person selling the product. Case in point, the Covert.
At a glance the product, which comes from the collective minds of Quirky, allows you to lock and unlock your drawers or cupboards using a magnetic key. However, it’s a bit more complicated than that. First, you’ll need to install the special magnetic latch that comes in two pieces. Both pieces attach inside the drawer using either a temporary adhesive or screws. The screws provide far more security, though the caveat is that you’ll permanently damage the furniture. The adhesives are good for those of you residing in a dorm room or renting furniture. Once installed, it’s as simple as closing the drawer and dragging the magnetic key from right to left, which unlocks the sliding latch embedded in the drawer.
It’s a genius simple design, but like many of Quirky’s products this one hasn’t gone into production. In fact, they’re trying to drum up interest, so hit the site and tell them how much you’d be willing to pay for this. Regardless, we get the feeling that we’ll see this product end up at Bed Bath and Beyond before year’s end.
