If you’re looking for the best digital camera to cut your photography teeth on, you cannot go wrong with a Canon PowerShot SX530 HS. Even being a few years old, it still takes great photos, with the option of videos, and provides a handful of buttons that any fledgling photographer would love to have without being overwhelmed.

Why We Like It – Canon PowerShot SX530 HS Review

The Canon PowerShot SX530’s performance makes it ideal as a versatile camera, but thanks to its optical zoom, finds itself better suited for long distance shots.

Pros
  • Performance matches its price
  • Solid choice for beginners
  • Long zoom range
Cons
  • Better models available

Performance

The Canon PowerShot SX530 HS can take great shots—especially from a distance. Make use of the camera’s 50x optical zoom and zoom lens because Electronic Dynamic IS technology prevents blur. Image quality is really sharp, and that’s thanks to its 16MP high-sensitive CMOS sensor and Canon DIGIC 4+ image processor. That image quality even extends into low-light situations, which gets additional help through Canon’s HS System, providing excelleching tracking. You can also shoot videos, with video quality being full HD, 1080p at 30p.

Design

Canon rarely strays in design, and the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS isn’t any different. Featuring a compact design, the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS is rather weighty. It feels good in the hands, with the balance resting in the middle. Even the shutter button has a satisfying weight to it. The grip has been textured to better prevent slipping.

Notable buttons is the dial that switches between automatic, aperture priority, and manually, to name a few. There’s also a dedicated button for Canon Camera Connect. The memory card slot is accessible on the right-hand side. Unlike the Yisence Waterproof Camera, the Canon Powershot SX530  isn’t waterproof.

Value

When the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS was first released, it was fairly expensive. Today, however, it’s only a third of its original price. And that isn’t surprising when you consider its performance compared to today’s cameras is on the lower end. With that said, it’s still a good Canon camera.

It isn’t what it once was, but that doesn’t mean it’s void of any value. In fact, the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS is perfect for a fledgling photographer. It’s built with way more features a photographer needs that a Canon PowerShot ELPH 180, Sony DSCW800, and Panasonic Lumix simply cannot match.

Canon PowerShot SX530 HS Review Wrap Up

While the performance of the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS has certainly seen better days since its debut, it can still prove incredibly useful in the hands of an aspiring photographer, due to it having a long range zoom, additional modes, and settings to fiddle with. Its features and performance match perfectly.
