Call of Duty has taken a significant step forward with Advanced Warfare. Combat abilities have been enhanced with near-future tech that gives you special exoskeletons, grappling hooks, cool weapons, and other various gadgets. The story also takes a step up by featuring Kevin Spacey. All in all, it’s one of the best games in the series and definitely one of the best new Xbox games. At first glance, it may seem like Microsoft is trying to cash in on old glories with this bundle, which includes ever major Halo game from Halo 2 through the Halo 5 Beta. However, a closer look reveals a laudable amount of upgrades, remastered editions, new features, and even new cutscenes. This makes the Master Chief Collection a great buy for Halo fans, those who want the complete Halo experience, or those who just want to experience one of the greatest shooter franchises made.

If you have been wanting an experience on consoles filled with magic, elves, dragons, and complex character interactions, you can pour dozens and dozens of hours into Inquisition. The game also supports a multiplayer mode…although you can spend plenty of time on your own, staring at the scenery or reading up on the lore behind the game.

Titanfall is centered on a simple concept: Shoot bad guys until you get to jump into a giant robot. The game, focused on multiplayer missions where different teams compete, is an Xbox and PC exclusive, and offers a great amount of fun and a surprising amount of variance for such a basic premise. Other shooters have more complex stories and modes, but none are as easy as Titanfall to open up after a long day and play for a bit to just unwind. This makes it one of the best Xbox One games for casual play.

You can find Titanfall here.

7. Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Valiant Hearts is a particularly unique indie game that takes you across various landscapes from World War I with an art design that provides both pathos and humor. It follows five different storylines, separate people stuck in different wartime situations. You help them out by solving various puzzles and advancing the plot. It has a lot of heart (good title choice) and is definitely worth your time.

You can download Valiant Hearts: The Great War here.

8. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor is not your typical Lord of the Rings game. Fortunately, the excellent action gameplay requires no knowledge of Lord of the Rings to enjoy as you stealth, brawl, snipe, enchant and attack your way across several varying landscapes filled with beasts and orc camps. It creates an entirely new hero and story as well, so don’t worry about getting bogged down: Just pretend to be Batman in a well-structured fantasy landscape.

9. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

The LEGO series of Xbox one games are hard to beat when it comes to family fun. They are perfect for local multiplayer and surprisingly deep, with a long roster of characters, abilities, missions, and side activities to keep a whole range of players satisfied. Marvel Super Heroes has the added benefit of a Marvel story where you and friends can play the Hulk, Thor, Ironman and many, many more heroes and villains. Keep in mind that there’s no online multiplayer with the LEGO games, so keep the fun in-house.

10. Guacamelee!

Guacamelee

Guacamelee! is a remarkably fun indie game that combines multiple features from Metroid-like games and then fills the screen with pop culture jokes, tough bosses, and lots of platform challenges, all in brilliant Mexican-themed colors. There’s also a great co-op mode for playing with friends. It’s probably worth to pay extra for the Super Turbo Championship edition.
