The 6.1-inch iPhone XR is a wonderful middle-of-the-road option and the best iPhone for those who don’t want an expensive iPhone, but still want to benefit from its performance. It accomplishes this by making a few necessary cuts without pulling back on performance too hard. The battery life is just as good as our top three, and its 6.1-inch display is more phone than most can handle. So, are these features enough to crown it the best smartphone in the market? Let’s learn more…

Why We Like It – Apple iPhone XR Review

The XR is a nice step up in performance if the Apple iPhone SE 2020 isn’t to your liking. It has a great battery life, large 6.1-inch display, and is almost just as good on your budget as the SE 2020.

Pros
  • Large 6.1-inch display
  • Great battery life
  • Better on budget
Cons
  • Difficult to find one that isn’t locked into a carrier
  • 64GB is low for base model

Performance

As with any low-cost option, a few features have been downgraded. Instead of the A13 Bionic processor, the iPhone XR’s processor is the A12 Bionic, the previous generation. The iPhone XR still packs a punch when it comes to running apps. Camera quality continues to be excellent with its 12MP single lens, even when using Portrait Mode, especially with Smart HDR.

If you want a little more out of your iPhone, spend the extra $100 on the Apple iPhone 11. If that isn’t enough, the performance of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is superb. Both blow the iPhone XR camera out of the water, along with a few additional features.

Design

As per usual, the Apple iPhone XR comes in different colors like white black blue yellow and red. The best iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD screen. Accompanying its 6.1-inch screen is a single front camera; flip the phone over and you find a single rear camera. If a single camera isn’t enough, the iPhone 11 Pro Max uses a triple-camera system. Set the Apple iPhone XR onto a fast charging station and you’ll be amazed by its wireless charging feature. No need for cables again!

Value

It isn’t surprising to see expensive iPhones, less so with new iPhones. At $599, this iPhone is a nice middle ground that balances features and performance without cheating you. Unfortunately, nabbing an XR iPhone that isn’t locked to a carrier proves difficult. Sure, Simple Mobile’s unlimited texts is good and all, but what if you don’t want to switch carriers? If that’s bothersome, reconsider the iPhone SE 2020 or an iPhone XS Max. As usual, the 64GB base model just isn’t enough in this day and age.

Apple iPhone XR Review Wrap Up

If you can look past being locked into a carrier, provided you can’t find one without, the Apple iPhone XR is still a powerful device. Its 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display is beautiful and responsive and the battery life is just as good as the best of the best.
