Schwinn has become somewhat synonymous wheel bikes, two-wheeled, adult tricycles—you name it. Through a continued effort to bring a high quality bike, we take a look at the Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle. It features two brake systems and a large rear basket, making it the best adult tricycle for picnics and quick store runs. Or, when you don’t feel like joining the throng of vehicles on the road.

Why We Like It – Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle

This particular Schwinn trike has a linear pull system, comfortable seating and a large rear basket. Next time you want to go for a joy ride or run a few errands, this is the bike to take.

Pros
  • Includes a rear folding basket
  • Linear pull system
  • Comfortable seating
Cons
  • Only one speed
  • Tools necessary for assembly not included

Performance

The first question anyone would ask: how well does it handle? Like a dream. This is Schwinn we’re talking about. The brakes are especially sensitive; in fact, brakes were implemented in the rear fenders in addition to the front wheel. This created much better braking than a single brake system. What we loved most were the cruiser handlebars—which are adjustable. It kept the rider’s back straight, rather than cause pain over time from a hunched-over position.

Where it falters is on hills. The Schwinn Meridian Three Wheels is only a single-speed trike, like the Mobo Recumbent Bicycle. Due to its handlebars, the rider is kept in an up-right position, making it difficult to pedal up any sharp inclines. If you prefer driving instead of working up a sweat, you can still enjoy some nice refreshing air with the right diffuser. Design

If you haven’t guessed from the name, the Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle is a three wheeled bike; one wheel in the front and two rear wheels. The wheels themselves are thin 26-inch wheels with good traction. The seat is extra large and rather comfortable with its extra cushioning.

Sandwiched between the rear wheels is a rather large cargo basket. Compared to all its features, the basket is the most useful. It can carry a respectable amount of groceries, a few days worth depending on what you purchase. It will not hold children, however. Furthermore, getting the bike assembled requires tools that aren’t provided.

Value

The Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle teeters back and forth when it comes to value. On one hand, it’s a simple adult trike with a basket. You get one speed and it does poorly on hills. On the other hand, Schwinn has a long history of making quality bikes of all shapes and sizes, unlike a Slsy Tricycle Three Wheeler. You always have to consider the basket more closely; it can help shave down your gas bill if you take this in lieu of your car for quick grocery trips. It’s also much cheaper than a Raleigh Tristar Tricycle.

Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle Wrap Up

What Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle has is brand recognition. If you were looking to lessen your carbon footprint and have the tools for assembly, you’ll want something reliable. Its rear basket means you can take grocery trips without a car and it’s comfortable all the way there with its cushioned seat, and its linear pull system brakes really well. Steep hills are its only weakness.
