Performance
Starting with gears, the Slsy Adult Tricycle comes with 7 speeds, unlike the single speed Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle and Mobo Recumbent Bicycle. This means you can cruise around on flat terrain or, when the occasion calls for it, switch to a different gear to take on a few inclines. It just so happens the Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle had some difficulty with steep inclines, unlike the Slsu Tricycle Three Wheeler.
With that said, the brakes on the Schwinn felt just a step better than the Slsy—but only by a very small margin. Shifting felt particularly good though, thanks to its trigger shifters and derailleur on the Slsy.
Design
The Slsy Tricycle Three Wheeler trades in an aluminum frame for a tough steel frame. It makes it notably heavier but also supports a much higher weight limit of 320 lbs. This is obviously a three wheeled bike, with each of the three wheels using your standard 20 inch wheels. They have good traction. It has a particularly comfortable seat compared to other adult tricycles. An extra large basket is seated between the two back wheels that is so perfect for running errands and small grocery trips. Make sure your kids don’t sit in it though. More importantly, the bike can be folded. It’s a bit tricky at first, as is assembly. Videos are available to watch for tips and tricks, thankfully.
Value
Unlike the Raleigh Tristar Tricycle, the Slsy Tricycle Three Wheel Bike proves that you can have a tough, high quality adult tricycle without paying an arm and a leg. Of course, $400 is still a somewhat hefty sum but you get to save gas and exercise, ultimately saving money down the road. In other words: it practically pays for itself.
