Performance
In an ideal situation, the Kwikset SmartCode Lock works beautifully. When you leave for home, you simply press the lock button and the deadbolt auto locks. When you come home, you punch in one of the user codes you created and the deadbolt will be released. The Kwikset 909 has but two problems: the motor, and batteries. It needs 4 AA batteries to operate, but they’ll last a year before needing replacements. Circumvent that by using rechargeable batteries. As for the motor, if the deadbolt lock doesn’t quite fit your front door, the motor has a harder time operating. Make sure it fits right. Design
Aesthetically speaking, the Kwikset 909 Deadbolt featuring SmartKey is pleasing to the eyes. Its dimensions are 3.50 x 5.38 x 9.88 inches. It comes in three variations: satin nickel, polished brass, and venetian bronze. Each variation includes 5 numbered buttons and the lock button as well as a normal lock. If you lose a key, you can make use of its Kwikset SmartKey technology, allowing you to re-key the lock if you lose your home key.
