Turning away from the norm, you decide on picking the best Chinese smartphone. Naturally, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro comes to mind. It best fits into the hands of those wanting performance. You’ll notice quickly why: it takes good pictures, but ultimately does just enough, favoring its Snapdragon 855 CPU above everything else. It has several features that make it a contender to be the best smartphone.

Why We Like It – ZTE Axon 10 Pro

When you want to lean heavily into performance, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro responds with its snappy Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and good battery life, but sacrifices the camera in order to make it happen.

Pros
  • Fast Snapdragon 855 CPU
  • Good battery life
  • 256GB of storage
Cons
  • Camera is good, but nothing special

Overall Performance

Like the Galaxy Note 10 Plus, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro takes advantage of the Snapdragon 855 chipset for quick, responsive performance, along with 8GB of RAM to utilize (other model has 12GB). Putting that into perspective, titles like PUBG Mobile will run incredibly well. Additionally, browsing, streaming, and day to day tasks are a breeze. Using a triple rear camera system—plus a front camera—with a wide-angle lens and 48-megapixels, it takes good pictures. Colors aren’t overly saturated, though some lighting can create a blue hue, similar to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Battery Life

There’s a lot of performance here, so naturally the battery isn’t going all day—but 10 hours is still a fair number of hours. It’s actually an hour more than the OnePlus 8 Pro. It does have wireless charging and fast charging, though the OnePlus 8 Pro charges faster.

Display

With a display of 2340×1080 and 90Hz refresh rate, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro is exceptionally smooth. Colors also appear quite nicely on its AMOLED, but nothing groundbreaking. Colors aren’t always the richest, but you’ll hardly notice. Side note: the display can be unlocked via in-display fingerprint sensor.

Durability

The ZTE Axon 10 Pro isn’t supporting any kind of fantastical durability features, not like the Ulefone Armor, which is built like a tank (metaphorically speaking). It does have IP68 water resistance, so you’ll at least have some protection against rain and spills.

Value

It’s difficult to place the ZTE Axon 10 Pro in the right camp, and where it falls in terms of value. It leans heavily into performance and largely ignores all the pizazz of camera settings. If you care little about pictures, then you’ll love this little number. You get a super-fast CPU for a bargain price, without being chased by unnecessary features. And plus, you get a hefty 256GB of storage. You may also want to check out our zBoost SOHO YX545 Dual Band Signal Booster review if you have a signal problem.

ZTE Axon 10 Pro Wrap Up

The ZTE Axon 10 Pro fits so well into the hands of those wanting performance. Not everyone wants a camera that can take photography-level photos. That gives it wiggle room to equip itself with a fast and snappy Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, a good battery life, and a hefty 256GB of storage.
