Why We Like It – WARN 89020 Vantage 2000 Winch
This fully sealed winch has the very light weight of 13.25 Lbs. while containing a permanent magnet motor, a 4 way roller fairlead, and all metal gear housing. It’s also because it’s fully sealed that this winch and most of its parts are durable and reliable within its pull capacity.

Performance
Unlike the Superwinch 1135220 Fairlead Handlebar Handheld winch, this warn winch has a differential planetary gear train instead of a three stage planetary gear train, which is not very common with newer winches. The permanent magnet motor has 0.9 hp, which has less horsepower compared to the Superwinch 1135220 winch, which has a horsepower of 1.2. Despite having high quality parts, however, it also only has a 2,000 pound pulling capacity.
Design
Like the Superwinch 1130220 LT3000ATV Fairlead Handlebar Winch, this winch has a roller fairlead, instead of the less durable powder coated hawse fairlead like its vantage 2000-S counterpart. It also comes with a wire rope instead of a synthetic rope, a handlebar mounted mini rocker switch, and a remote control. It stands out by only having a dynamic gear brake instead of the more common combination of the mechanical and dynamic gear brakes.

Value
On websites aside from Amazon, the price is usually over $250 at the least, which is a bit expensive for its pulling capacity and limited applications. There are alternative winches that are about the same price, if not noticeably cheaper, that have a higher pulling capacity and more features. Although slightly more expensive, the smittybilt 97495 xrc winch capacity is also a great alternative by providing a huge difference in both performance and efficiency.

WARN 89020 Vantage 2000 Winch Wrap Up
While it has nice features such as OK pulling power, a permanent magnet motor, and being lightweight despite having decent quality parts, its pulling capacity is an aspect that limits the range of applications that it can be used for. Compared to the newer models of warn winches, this particular model isn’t very impressive, especially since later models can also be used for UTV, and sometimes even side-by-side applications too.
