The ViewSonic 1080p Projector (also known as the ViewSonic PX700HD Projector) is the best ceiling-mounted projector below $600. And it performs so well in every aspect, that it probably is the best projector for artists as well at this price.
Why We Like It – ViewSonic 1080p Projector
Unlike the AuKing Mini Projector and all the other cheaper projectors, the ViewSonic 1080p Projector is actually a projector that comes with 1920x1080p native resolution. It’s perfect for a home entertainment setup if you can spend more than $500.

Performance/Resolution
Just like the ViewSonic PA503S, it’s also a true full HD DLP projector. It works pretty well, even over a short throw distance. So you can use it properly in your home theater setup indoors. Unfortunately, neither the USB type A nor the mini USB type B port supports video playback. They only support power output to power your external devices using a USB power cable (e.g., streaming sticks). Even then, you can’t get power output from both USB ports at the same time. You have to select the port from the settings manually. The Sony 4K Projector offers an incredible 4K resolution with Motionflow technology through a 3-chip SXRD laser light ARC-F lens and it is one of the projectors worth checking out.
Brightness/Lumens
ViewSonic touts a 3500 lumens lamp as the projector’s light source on this one. But, in terms of accurate ANSI lumens rating, it actually comes to around 3000 ANSI lumens. That’s on par with most projectors, including the Optoma UHD60 4K projector. The eco mode doesn’t decrease the brightness by much, so that’s a good thing, at least. Overall, it’s perfectly usable, considering the price.
Adjustability/Viewing Angle
A 1.2x optical zoom lens would’ve been nice to see here, but it only has a 1.1x optical zoom lens, just like the BIGASUO Projector. While gaming, if you put the projector in the “frame action” mode, you can get slightly less input lag out of it.
Durability
The inbuilt lamp lasts about 15000 hours in the eco mode. But that number mostly depends on how you use the projector, and if you use the right cables for your projector. If you use it all the time for office presentations by connecting an older office PC using a VGA cable, the lamp is not going to last that long. At that point, you might as well spend a lot less and get the AuKing Mini Projector instead.
Value
The value proposition of the ViewSonic 1080p Projector is actually pretty good, despite its high price. It comes with an excellent high brightness lamp (with a one-year limited warranty) and a lot of other great features that add to the value. But then again, a lot of adjustability features are missing too, which in that case, you’ll want to compare ViewSonic vs Optoma projectors for more options. So it really depends on you whether or not you deem it to be worth the money, including the drawbacks.

Considering everything, the ViewSonic 1080p Projector is excellent for its price. But you can find other 1080p projectors too at cheaper price points with lower brightness levels.
