The Stand Steady Standing Desk is a great introductory standing desk converter. It allows you to see if standing and working will be right for you. The build quality isn’t the best, but you can’t really expect that for a sub $200.00 desk. It did make our best standing desk list, though, so go see how it stands up against the others!

Why We Like It – Michael Iaboni

The Stand Steady X Elite will work great for you if you’re thinking about getting a standing desk but are unsure if standing all day will make you more or less productive. The X-Elite Pro Desk will let you stand and work for a few hours, decide if it’s right for you, and allow you to move on from there.

Pros
  • No assembly required
  • Small and doesn’t take up too much space
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Not the best for dual monitors
  • 20 pound weight limit
  • Low quality build materials

Performance

The Stand Steady X Elite Pro Standing Desk is height adjustable with the standing height being 16” and the lowest height, or sitting position, being 2.5”. However, it doesn’t have enough room to support two monitors. It can, but it will be very cramped. Add in the 20 pound weight limit and it’s probably desk to stick to a single monitor or laptop. If you are looking for something that can handle a dual-monitor set-up, we recommend the Seville Classics Airlift Desk.

Design

The Stand Steady X Elite Pro Standing Desk’s main draw is that there’s no assembly required, a rarity occurrence for desk converters. Just place it on your existing desk and adjust the height to your desired specifications and you’re good to go. The base of the X Elite Standing Desk Converter isn’t a perfectly flat surface, though, so you might feel some rocking motions. The keyboard tray is large enough to fit any keyboard and, unlike the base, is quite stable, as is the work surface. But if you want something that’s built solid all-around, try the Varidesk Pro Plus 36 Desk.

Value

Because of its adjustable height, the X-Elite Pro is a sit/stand desk, though this is common with most standing desk converters. It’s minimalistic design also means it won’t take up too much space on your desk so you’ll have room to put other important items around like notebooks or your coffee. However, it only has a 30-day warranty and poor packaging which increases the rate of damage when shipping, so just be prepared for that. The ApexDesk Elite Series 60 Desk may be a little more expensive, but eliminates most of the problems the X-Elite Pro Desk has.

Michael Iaboni Wrap Up

Standing Desks have risen in popularity over the years, and investing in a good one will have you standing quite a long time. The X-Elite Pro Desk will definitely help you see if a standing desk is right for you. If not, take comfort in the fact that you can still sit with this desk, or only stand for a few hours, whichever makes you more comfortable.
